I might be exaggerating... but if this Podolski shot would've been a few centimeter to the left that would've been the goal of the decade.

80 min: Podolski belts a shot in about a foot wide. I haven't seen a leather ball take so much punishment since a hurricane swept through the 1993 S&M Autumn Dinner and Dance.

Spain should take a lesson from this game, never count out giants no matter how crappy they played in group stages.

Podolski has as good a shot as it gets, just a weapon. Seriously, did he miss even one this tournament by more than a couple of centimetres ?

2 good teams with one loosing, Portugal didn´t go out with a great but not a bad performance either.

Ballack again with the most metres run with 12100, if i´m not mistaken 4th in a row. Say what you want about him not being a playmaker, but the guy definitely gives his all and is relentless.

I kinda feel bad for Portugal(except Ronalda), they have all the talent in the world and could ve gone all the way if they could defend the set kicks.

On the otherside Germany played very well especially Schweinskjlkkk. Though, i hope their defense would fall asleep like they did in this game when and if we play them.

What a performance by Germany. Didn't expect that at all. Portugal got destroyed on the set pieces. Schweinsteiger was amazing.

Three things from a Portuguese point of view:

1. Simao is too heavy and slow to be playing on the right flank and Nani should have started there to atleast not pressure Bosingwa into making overlaps for the attacking crosses.

2. Raul Mireles is never going to score from 70 yards out but still would insist on taking 7-8 of the mper game.

3. Nuno Gomes is done. Find a better striker.

feel i have to intervene here ... It is allways tough playing as the lone striker in a pass-heavy system like Portugal plays in and bottom line he still scored twice this tournament. Didn´t see him playing a bad Euro, at all.
I mean, Ronaldo disapeared every time he moved to striker, too. Imo that shows that they are a little inept at involving that striker.

With all due respect to Gomes and his finishing abilities, he looked half a yard slower than the players around him. Playing lone striker is tough always but still their link up play would have been a lot better if Gomes didn't try to play "poacher in the box" for the entire game. I understand he's the best option they have but that certainly did hurt them quite a bit.

Porrtugal deserved a better fate

The first goal (Podalski pushing off Bowsigna allowing him to cross) and the third (Ballack pushing off) could have gone either way.

They took it to Germany for most of the match.

They cant shoot outside of Ronaldo, i pack anything into my 11m inside and let them shoot all day. And then they are too small to bother taller players going for headers.

And then there is Ricardo. :kiss

3rd goal was a pretty clear foul, but the first no way, no one´s ever calling that. If that´s a foul, everything is.

Of course Portugal had more of the ball, that´s because they were down for 65 minutes. But they hardly were just unlucky or anything. "take it to" would be games like russia-sweden yesterday.

still portugal never found a way to get by the germans. ronaldo had a disappointing euro. portugal has a good team but not to be favorites, i think that was a mistake from their part.

individuals don't necessarily make a team.
