Official North and South America Thread
Since the thread seems to have vanished, I decided to make a new one.
Talk about the leagues, national teams, and other stuff here.
CONCACAF and CONMEBOL 2010 WCQ is under way. I'll post scores from the latest round of matches later.

Re: Official North and South America Thread
Brazil was destroyed by Paraguay.
We already almost lost to Canada (they played better than us), lost to Venezuela (for the 1st time in history) and now humiliated against the Paraguayans.
Tomorrow against Argentina will be a good game, because both need to win.
I hope Brazil lose this game so Dunga probably will be fired. The guy is terrible, he just think about defense.
CBF (the Brazilian Confederation of Football) is making the imposible. Making the Brazilian people lose the passion about our National Team.

Re: Official North and South America Thread
The game was nice to watch.
Argentina was much better in the 2nd half. I think just Julio Batista who played well for us. Gilberto, Mineiro, Gilberto Silva are ridiculous!!!
Dunga is very dumb, the substitutions that he did was so stupid.
And Messi is great, played very well, but had a bad game in shooting at the target, missed some very good chances.

Re: Official North and South America Thread
I wish they would combine CONCACAF and CONMEBOL into one and create a new qualifying process. I really would like to see Mexico and USA sharpen their football against stronger teams of S.America before World Cup instead of playing bunch of gimmies against Caribbeans.

Bolivia scoring 4 on the top team so far in qualifying was shocking.
Peru is without their top 2 players, Farfan and Pizarro are suspended for a large chunk of qualifying for partying late and bringing women into the team hotel after their 1-1 draw against Brazil in Lima and the night before their 5-1 blowout loss to Ecuador. Both matches were WCQ in November. I think 2 or 3 others were suspended as well.

Re: Official North and South America Thread
i think playing at la paz' height is very risky and it's not an advantage for any team.
about CONCACAF and CONMEBOL i think that from a sport point of view it's a great option. economically i don't think it would be for the teams thar are always behind brazil, argentina, usa and mexico.
with the addition of mexican teams to copa libertadores and sudamericana and usa and mexico being invited to copa américa is an example of what would be if they are mixed together.

Re: Official North and South America Thread
yeah, there's a final stage and the first 3 advance directly to the WC, the forth plays with the 5th of the conmebol.
it used to be that the caribbean and central american teams eliminated before getting to the last group and only the sourvivers would face the better teams like mexico, us, canada and maybe costa rica.
but business is business. it's like concacaf made for this year a tournament "concachampions". the club tournament was direct elimination and only 8 teams participated. now i believe it's 16 teams in 4 groups.

Was anybody else watching the Copa Libertadores? My boy Jose Cevallos, thirty seven years old, blocks three penalty kicks making LDU the champions. First Ecuadorean club to win.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

got to home at time to watch just the extra times, i was sleepy for the PKs.
LDU were a pretty surprising team, a very fast and technical team.

Re: Official North and South America Thread
I feel bad for Fluminense
The team is very traditional even though they doesn't have a lot of important titles (just one national championsip and a lot of states tournments that aren't that important nowadays), and 10 yeras ago Fluminense was in the 3rd division. So it'd be really good for their fans, they really needed to win a tournment so valuable like Libertadores...
But congratulations to Liga, I was really cheering for them since they beat San Lorenzo in the quarter-finals.
That argentinean guy, Damian Manso is very good, the kind of player who I really love to watch, not so athletic, but he's smart, can dribble, has a very good passing and shooting, classic. I'd like he sign with a brazilian team so I could watch him playing more often. Bolanos and Guerron are very good too, but Guerron sometimes exaggerate with his dribble.
---------------
Talking about MLS, I watched a game between DC United and LA Galaxy and I was impressed with two things:
1 - The DC fans are really incredible, not so fanatics like here in Brazil or in Argentina, but I thought it was like the NBA games that the fans "just see" the game, but with DC, the fans really cheer, sing songs, have some instruments over there, and I think it's very nice to see. I don't know if other MLS team has fans like that, but the commentator of ESPN here in Brazil said the DC Fans are the most fanatics of MLS.
2 - The MLS level is really bad. DC isn't so good (but has good players like Emilio, Gallardo, Fred, Moreno) but oh my god, Galaxy is ridiculous. Donovan and Beckham are good (imo Beckham is very overrated the only thing that he can do very well is shooting the ball) but the rest really sucks. I mean, Abel Xavier??? how old is this guy? The have to spend their money in players that are really good, not just because are famous.
I expected a better game, I thought MLS had better teams, but maybe I watched just a bad game of the Galaxy players.
