AC Milan signs David Beckham

Italian giants AC Milan confirmed on Wednesday that former England captain David Beckham will join the club on loan during the January transfer window.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti and vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed the news at Milan's Malpensa airport before the team set off to the Netherlands, where they will play Heerenveen in the UEFA Cup on Thursday.

Beckham, who plays for LA Galaxy, will join the seven-time European champions during the off-season break in the MLS.

ugh. what an unnecessary move. seriously, why does milan need a washed up, overrated midfielder with limited skills when things were starting to look up? milan doesn't need a midfield help nor do they need a off-field distraction beckham will bring in just by breaking his fingernail. at least they didnt spend any money.

They'll sell a bunch of shirts. He'll make a few cameos off the bench.

He's never coming back to the MLS.

Beckham is still an ok player, even if he won't play 50 games/year anymore. Side effect: Milan will learn to fear Victoria Beckham's ultimate WAG-iness. :D

i read two versions:

1. he signed so he can stay active (only training, not playing) so capello considers him for the english NT.

2. he's on loan to play with milan during the MLS offseason.

and i think it's "good" for milan, it gives them another good player from the bench, but don't expect much things from him, specially in a tough and physical league as the serie A.

and i also agree that it's also an economic move by milan.

MLS needs to go ahead and fold the LA Galaxy franchise and allow a Miami/FC Barcelona franchise to start next season.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Beckham, Donovan & the Los Angeles Galaxy did not make the playoffs... PATHETIC!
the expansion San Jose Earthquakes finished the the season with a similar record.

David Beckham may be the most over rated player in sports history. Don't get me started on Landon Donovan.

 He's done lots of great things, and you can't take that from him. He's proven to be a true professional by playing so well for AC Milan.

he was never a top 5 player in the world-even when he finished runner up in player of the world award- but he was paid and exposed as one. he played surprisingly well for Milan at the beginning but was inconsistent rest of the way.

In retrospect, Victoria Beckham brought Becks down. Sir Alex Ferguson DESPISES her. He blames her for Becks' loss of focus, work ethic and being more interested in fashion and perfume than in soccer. Hard to blame Becks for loving his wife, but as a football player, it all went down when he met her.

Re: Beckham and Donovan
As a Bundesliga fan, I can say with 100% certaincy that Landon Donovan is worthless. He failed in Leverkusen (TWICE) and now he crashed and burnt in Bayern. I will never understand how Klinsmann thought he was better than Podolski. Donovan was so bad that the Bayern players joked that their little brothers were better than him!

So true about Beckham, and so true about Donovan. The guy is a joke, just the American side is a complete joke. I know for a fact Donovan is done with Europe, because Europe doesn't give a shite about him and doesn't even want him for free.

You claim the US is a joke, they can beat Turkey. Pretty good midfield, nice attack.

on paper, U.S doesn't have much of a shot against healthy Turkey. Turkey is better both in midfield and up front.

i think U.S would be like Norway in Europe, not terrible but wouldn't make it to the world cup regularly.
