Who would you say is the player of the decade?

Some of the candidates are

Ronaldinho
Ronaldo
Messi
C. Ronaldo
Kaka
Henry
Zidane
Figo
Cannavaro
Buffon
Giggs
Nedved

I would personally give it to Ronaldinho for his unbelievable 04-07 seasons.
Of course won the WC, CL, La Liga etc.

There is no clear cut favorite. IMHO Zidane takes it, but you can make legit cases for AT LEAST Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Buffon and Henry.

Giggs is a marvelous player, but he never had the impact that Henry had.
Ronaldinho had 3 brilliant seasons, but wasn't there in the start, and is on the downside in the finish.
Buffon can be mentioned.
Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo don't have enough seasons.
I wish Ronaldo had the chance, but he didn't because of injuries.
Zidane played for only 6 years, and the last 2 weren't exactly that good(Excluding the World Cup)
Nedved is like Giggs.
Kaka is also a serious candidate.

I think it's Henry though, if you think of the whole decade. If you ask who had the best prime in this decade, that's a whole different thing.

Yeah, I mentioned Giggs only because his team did so well this decade.

Ryan Giggs is a serious contender but his form was not very good for 2 seasons when United were not winning and going through a re-building phase and even after that he gets shadowed initially by the likes of Van Nistelrooy and later Cristiano Ronaldo even on the United team. If you had to pick the best player since the start of the premier league, its him.

Ronaldinho is my choice for the player of the decade. He's had a couple bad seasons after he left Barca but until then he's won every single competition he's been in and every individual accolade there is left to win.

Messi and C.Ronaldo just started out. Cannavaro, Giggs, Nedved, Buffon are not serious candidates, imo. Ronaldo flamed out too early in the decade which leaves me with Kaka, Dinho, Henry, Zidane and Figo.

Kaka is easily the weakest link, Zidane, Henry and Figo's best years are divided between late 90s and 00s. i think Ronaldinho had more impact since the turn of the century than rest of them but his impact wasn't particularly long either.

Definitely Zidane.

Then I'd say Henry 2nd and Ronaldinho 3rd.

I have to go with Zidane, he was amazing for his country and for his club!

I think it's Ronaldinho.

Zidane was amazing, too, but he wasn't that good anymore after 2004. Ronaldinho was really good before 2004 and the best from 2004-2007.

Ronaldinho only had an impact for 2-3 years, while Zidane and both Henry just dominated and without them on the pitch it was tough for their clubs to win.

Zidane is the maestro of the Football decade, when he steps foot on the pitch music is played, he is a complete genius!

I always thought the world player of the years ronaldinho won shoulda been henry's (biased probably). I just don't know if I can put Zidane as the player of the Decade if he only played 6 of them (it's like putting shaq as).
But as best overall player. Ofcourse its Zidane.
i guess I put ronaldinho in there just to make it less bias since im an Arsenal fan.

I always thought Van Nistelrooy was a better player than Henry and I really don't like Henry.

I think Henry was more of a moment player and he was always there at the right time. While Van Nistelrooy was just a scoring machine and each week you know he would score.


I Just remember my cousin make LOTS of money each week, because he gambled on Van Nistelrooy because he would just score every week and my cousin knew that while others were to scared to risk it.

That's cause you're a MU fan. Not too many neutrals would agree with you. RVN was a great poacher and a natural goalscorer. Henry was that and so much more, he was a playmaker, he led the league in assists several times, and his prime was much longer. I really don't think this is even a contest.

Ronaldinho IMO... 1 world cup, 2 times best player of the world, 1 UFC... that should be enough...
