Suns gave up 81-97 and Ayton in.
Just tells how important player Ayton is to this team.
He should have been de facto 2nd option from day 1 on this team. We used him like that 2nd season, he was dropping 30 point games occasionally. Then Chris Paul showed and he became 3rd, 4th or even 5 option some nights, and it really stalled in his offensive development. Forced him to a role player on offense, now he is like deer under headlights when he gets the ball.
Look at all the different ways he was getting buckets this game. We did nothing to develop these skills
For what it's worth, Ayton hasn't really shown much desire for anything other than to get paid because he felt as though he were a max contract player. Many of us knew that to not be the case and the FO didn't feel it either. So, he sniveled and acted like a petulant child when he could have instead SHOWN himself to be worth that money he so desired.
He got paid... and this is the end product for all that money? Nah, man. I can't roll with you on this one. Dude doesn't have the heart regardless of what option he was before or is now. You are either that guy and assert yourself from the jump off or you find yourself relegated to whatever befalls you. I don't personally think it'll matter if he's traded or Paul retires. He's just not that dude. He's not the truly dominant difference maker he was expected to be and he shows that on a nightly basis.
You Sir deserve an award. 100 freaking percent correct.
