How do we fix our rebounding issues?

It has been a problem for a while or at least I think so.

Where do we rank league wise in rebounding?

2of our new big 4 played tonight and they both crapped the bed. The bench guys and these are deep deep bench guys played hard. If Monty had a problem with Crowder why not these 2.

We're 11th in rebound this season.

KD averaged 7rpg over the last two seasons. Crower averaged 5. We know what DA can do on the rebounding end, he just has to get his head in the game. Craig is also a surprisingly good rebounder averaging almost 6 himself

Capela is one of the best rebounders. It was an off game. Ayton coming off 31 rebounds in last two along with like 90 pts in last 3. It was his worst rebounding game. It was more of an anomaly.

A lot of people talk about how all his rebounds go right to him, which isn't entirely accurate, and while many do this goes for everyone. Paul got like 5 and it wasn't like he was going up for contested rebounds or grabbing them when Ayton should. Same with others.

The team was probably out of sorts too. The rest of the starters shot like 30%. I imagine many didn't sleep much last night after the Bridges/Cam news. I sure didn't and they were not two of my best friends, who I came into the league with (Bridges), who played every game with Ayton. It surely had a big emotional impact...like it did for many of us..but amplified. Should it impact his rebounding...no I suppose not.

Like I say, players have bad games. I was looking at a bunch of other Cs, and most of the best ones have had several 4 or 5 rebounding games.

Anyway, like fishi said, we are 11th and have played quite small. KD and Craig starting will help.

11th is far better than I expected. I have thought our biggest need was a rebounding defensive minded PF. I liked Mikal and Cam like everyone but understood that they returned Durant. He could be a big help on the boards. Maybe Bazley can bring some help if he gets playing time. I was concerned with the departure of Saric. He was one of my favorite players. He always was always very active on the boards, both ends. I just hope he wasn't dumped to save a little money. Besides getting on the boards Saric was a capable 3 point shooter and playmaker. How is Bazley any better?

I just did not see the energy from Ayton that we saw in those 15 rebound games. Hopefully it was just an anomaly and he was having a tough time without the twins. I also remember he and Collins hugging each other after the debacle in PHoenix. It looked like they were close friends and hoping that they would be playing together soon. Lots of mind stuff going on last night.

I am glad we kept Ayton. However, he must do his job and not just once in a while. It is not like we are assured of a playoff berth just because we have Durant. There are a lot of good teams very close to us. Every game counts. No room for error.

Hopefully we do better tonight.

Crying…. Jeezus

Just like Monty said. There is a human side to this business and trades aren't fun sometimes. Let DA be himself. I feel like a lot of fans were also sad when the trade happened. I almost cried. :(

This is certainly more an anomaly than the norm for DA but I get what you mean about him lacking energy in some games and it's super frustrating but for the most part, he's solid. Wouldn't put it past the team to be just out of sorts because they are going to war without Mikal for the first time since ever. Just losing that glue guy who covers up so many defensive mistakes across the team, a guy who just jumps into the fray to grab rebounds, a guy who gets into the pockets for easy cuts to the basket. I have been critical of DA plenty (and I believe fairly) but if we were to trade him and not have anyone to fill his spot, his absence would be felt in a big way, just like losing Mikal has.
