How heartbreaking. The soundtrack to our team. This is so sad.

Figured it was coming once he retired, still sucks to hear. He was the voice of the Suns, all major Suns moments can be remembered in his voice.

RIP to an absolute legend.

The best to ever do it. Shazam!
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Tough loss, but a bit expected. He had a long and fulfilling life, doing what he loved. Too bad he couldn't see the Suns win their first chip ever.

Prayers up.

My dad and I would listen to Al call games in the 80s while driving or sitting in the kitchen. He's a big part of why Im a Suns fan.
Until his death my dad would turn off the sound of the TV and turn on ktar for each game.

RIP

What a legend. A great career. It's crazy thinking about him introducing Budenholzer. He looked like he was 65, tops.

Absolute legend and universally liked, which is a rarity in the NBA/media circles. Shazam.

Absolute legend and all class

The Suns and the NBA as a whole were blessed to have him be part of its history and community

Aww ****…. Inevitable, but still aww ****

I was slow to this news… was puzzled by the Cards announcer tossing in wammo and shazam. Nice touch

Nothing was better than dialing him in camping, driving, etc. im sad. Bet i listened to more games the first 10yrs than watched. (The pre-cable days). Deserves a bronze statue at the arena. Along with Westy, Cotton, the Hawk, Dick Van, Sweet D. (Do they already have something??)

So many classic phrases and nicknames.
‘The man with the velvet touch’ always my favorite. Hope somebody puts together a ‘greatest hits’ montage. Wasnt there a documentary when he retired?

One thing I'm pretty confident about is that Ishbia will honour Al properly and deservedly.

Wouldn't be surprised if there was a statue or as someone on reddit mentioned, renaming the ring of honour into the Al McCoy Ring of Honor.

I met him in Charlotte at a Hornets game years ago. That same year, I visited Phoenix (around 2017 if I recall) and met him there too and he said he remembered me when I mentioned I saw him in Charlotte too. Very nice in person. R.I.P. to the GOAT
