Your guess is as good as anyones. Confidence is a small part of it. But we're talking about a guy who a few months ago was airballing consecutive floaters during a casual-paced shootaround. This type of turnaround, if real (and I think we still need to be cautious), is a very, very, very rare occurrence.

Read somewhere that he was good shooter in highschool(40+% on 3s) when he was playing as a guard. Growing up somehow affected his shot, but hopefully now he's back to being good.

Despite good shooting in offseason highlights didn't expect what we see at the moment. Had he shot at 30% in college he probably ends a lottery pick right.

3s, 3s and more 3s. Only the Cs Mason and Oso didn't shoot one in this game.

I cannot recall a single player in the last 20 years that went from being unable to shoot (12 3's in 65 games) to being a legitimate threat over 1 summer. Insane improvement from this kid and yeah, if anyone suspected he'd improve this much, I think he is a lottery pick without question in this draft.

TJ Warren comes to mind. I think he is a perfect example of being in the right headspace to shoot threes. TJ sucked for a few years, then was great for two seasons, and now he sucks again. He took 56% of this threes in those two seasons he shots lights out. The remaining 44% of three points attempts were taken over 7 seasons. Think about it ...

We already know about Nurkic against Jokic, he knows how to play him on both sides.

Jamal Murray is their X factor and he is out of shape and on a shooting slump...yeah, it's the preseason but if you add his terrible play for Canada in the Olympics might be a serious problem.

And Ryan Dunn seems perfect as his primary defender because he can bother his shot with his length and lateral quickness.

The Nuggets lost KCP too and I think that was a HUGE loss on a short roster. I can't envision Westbrook playing very well for them and his lack of shooting will be a negative for sure.

Denver still has a great coach, great system and the best player in the world (imo) but they've lost depth year after year while relying more on the young guys who may or may not be able to step up. I think their floor is still super high but I don't quite see them as having the ceiling as they've had before. Like I still think they can win it all just having the best player, a solid but not as deep team, great coaching and enough continuity but with the West getting tougher and Jamal not looking great so far (although he has a history of turning it on later in the season) I don't have them as a tier 1 contender like I did last season.
