Re: Welcome Nigel Hayes Davis
Nigel has made insane strides in the last 4 years. When he first got to Europe, he wasn't anything special. Just another non-shooting (percentages were at times decent, but really lacked any consistency) defensive minded guy who wasn't good enough for the NBA. What he turned himself into afterwards is just mind boggling and I can't even come up with another player who managed to do this in Europe. He went from being a borderline Euroleague scrub/role player, to league MVP caliber player. Can really shoot it now, score in a variety ways, pass the ball and of course defend. Good sense and IQ. While he's not a starter level talent in the NBA, not giving him ANY minutes would honestly be a coaching malpractice.

If Boston was interested, that's a good sign we picked up the right kinda player
Between Fleming and now Hayes Davis, our scouting approach seem to be to monitor whatever Boston is doing and then snatch away the guys they're looking at
If we can't get the best scouts, then we sure as hell should get the best corporate spies

I remember this dude years ago - I watched a lot of Euro living in the UK at the time. Plays a lot like Naji Marshall, not quite the passer/playmaker but a better defender and solid shooter

Re: Welcome Nigel Hayes Davis
I have seen Nigel-Hayes play quiet a lot of times.
He is 6-8, strong, but not heavy. Not a lifter, but a good jumper.
He usually plays PF, but can also play SF.
He has mostly shared the court these last years with an un-athletic SF and some uber-un-athletic Cs.
He never stops doing things on the court, many of them not showing on the stat sheet.
He dominates the mid-range and mid-post in Europa. Great shooter from there. NOt only catch and shoot, but also has developed a nice turn around jumper.
All this at a European level, where players are far less flamboyant, athletically speaking, than in Europe.
He has been raised and trained by his father in law, who taught him to be relentless and make use of what he has.
All in all, I see a limited player in the NBA who comes to fill the PF spot in case we cannot find anybody, to show the rookies to work hard and to play limited minutes when/if a real PF arrives. He is not going to complain about that and he will be ready when the time comes.

He usually offers that that the team needs in every game, although he set the record for most points in a game this year with 48, if I am correct. In Europe that is like 60/65 in the NBA.

Re: Welcome Nigel Hayes Davis
He was very good in college.
Never understood why he went undrafted.
Good to see he was balling in Euroleague and now gets a chance to prove his worth here.

Donatas Urbonas:
Fenerbahce had a deal on the table worth up to $9 million NET over three seasons, with the first two years guaranteed. This offer would have ranked him among the highest-paid players in the EuroLeague.
Hayes-Davis, 30, also paid $1 million to exit his Fenerbahce contract, which was set to run through 2027. He had been earning around $2M per season.

Record 50 points last season, which is a lot in EL indeed being there are no superstar-centered offenses(ISO bs). Vezenkov had a chance to beat this record past season scoring 45, but the coach took him off with two minutes left, which shows EL coaches are not promoting individual stats.

Re: Welcome Nigel Hayes Davis
Very Jimmy Butler-lite. Not really a foul hunter in the same way, but has some bully ball from the wing. Can actually shoot the 3, though. Not sure about how his defense translates, but overall I'm pretty pleased with this signing. He don't dunk, though.
SHAZAM!
Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.
