LOL... you have to be kidding me right? Talking about Bynum's health... You're picking up freaking Shaq... Shaq with a bum hip Shaq... Over weight Shaq, the Big Has been....
Best thing that could happen for you in this trade is during the physical they find the 50 lbs of bricks in his ass that he tosses up on free throws and anything farther from the basket than 5 feet. Maybe then Kerr will wake up and just say no.
I don't doubt Nash will make Shaq better, but Shaq is a liability on defense... He couldn't guard the pick and roll in LA, and you're going to ask him to guard it now? That and he could up his effort playing against the Lakers to stick it to Kobe and Buss...
But doubt it...

+1
really the only upside for you is if he wants to stick it to Kobe and buss.
Shaq's old and lazy. after the 3-peat, he just collected his paycheck. After Buss basically chose Kobe over Shaq and traded him to Miami, he got into shape in the summer, was lighter on his feet and got Miami a championship w/ Wade. After 1 ring, he went back to collecting checks and now has a bad hip. You're kidding yourself if you think he'll help you guys more than Marion or even a Magloire trade.

cant wait for shaq to destroy the lakers, you know hes going to go all out against them, lakers have no chance against us, pal gasol? he hasnt done crap against amare, never have and never will, all the got is kobe, thats about it.

I'm a Suns fan too, but let's be realistic - the only thing Shaq is capable of "shutting down" is a buffet line.
I don't think that the Spurs are really worried about this deal.

This deal is awful for Phoenix for the following reasons:
-Shaq slows the pace of this team down considerably...if the Suns end up playing half court ball, then they'll get trounched by superior half court teams at this stage like the Spurs, Lakers, and even Mavs.
-There is still a clog down low...sure Amare alongside Shaq sounds great on paper but both players thrive near the hoop. Amare doesn't exactly have a great jump shot and won't create the proper spacing for Shaq who needs to live in the paint to be effective.
-The Suns have left themselves a one year window-tops...If the Suns don't win it all this season, then what. They are then left with 2 aging players in Nash and Shaq that are or already approaching the latter part of their 30s. Shaq will clearly only get worse from here on in.
-This team isn't even built to have a guy like Shaq. Shaq thrives in the paint if he is surrounded by shooters and a penetrating/ scoring wing. The Suns best wing at this slot now is Grant Hill. They do have shooters, but now a guy like Nash may have to reserve his role into more of a spot up shooter than before.
-The Suns could have done better. Phoenix would have been able to orchestrate, or at least shoudl have, a deal that would have sent Marion to NJ for Carter and Magloire...or how about Jamison or AK47. There was a lot more options out there if Marion was that unhappy. Getting Shaq straps Phoenix financially and severly slows down their tempo.
-The Suns should not have been desperate- Remember Phoenix was essentially a botched fraglant foul/ suspension call away from perhaps contending in the finals last season. There was no legit reason for Kerr to feel so nervous as to make such a risky move. Granted the Lakers getting Gasol has changed the scope of the West, but getting Shaq won't make things better.
-For all these reasons and more this is horrid for Phoenix.

This post is so wrong in so many ways I'm not sure where to start. First have you seen Amare play over the past 2 years? His jump shot is money. He is the best shooting big man inside 3pt range in the NBA. There has even been some talk about him expanding his range to 3pt. He rarely takes them in games because they need him inside. Now they don't need him inside as much anymore.eitanr wrote:This deal is awful for Phoenix for the following reasons:

This is a bad trade for you guys. Marion was your best defender and could guard almost anyone. He ran the floor and played hard everytime I saw him. Shaq is broken down and lazy. He can't run the floor or finish very well. He also plays 10 minutes less a game than Marion and has fouled out 7 games of the 33 he's played in. Marion has only missed one game and has half the turnovers as Shaq. I could go on, but I will leave you with this, you guys are stuck with 50 million over the next 3 yrs.
