Pops Mensah-Bonsu

I figure with all of the 13th roster spot threads I'd throw this guy out there.

The Mavs had this guy on their roster but waived him. He played for them in the d-league and in the summer league. Cuban picked up Jose-Barea and needed to let someone go.

Pops has insane raw talent, he needs to refine it. Kind of reminds me of Amare in terms of his dunks. That being said, he would only cost the 770k and we would only sign him to a one year deal.

I don't think we need to trade for anyone. I don't want to give up our exceptions or our picks. This guy is a free agent. He's a lot of fun. He's cheap and wouldn't mind sitting on the bench behind Nash, Hill, Stoudemire and Shaq.

Nah I think the bigs rotation of Shaq/Amare/Diaw/Skinner is ok, and I cant see DA getting another big who can't hit something outside of a dunk - Villanueva is a Mike D sorta guy. I wouldn't mind Pops, but I dont see us getting him...

Hell SA i reckon...

i dont see dantoni adding another big, i know its a suns fans habit to look at every available big to add to our team because we always needed it, but thats a habit thats gonna have to change now - LMAO it wont be easy ;-)

suns are looking at a SG SF defensive type who can hit the 3

if he didnt have personality and history issues, rueben patterson is the best FA out there for us, but he aint coming, but it will be someone in that mould IMO

Fair enough. Are we really looking for a guy to play though? I realize that throwing around names that are recognizable is attractive at this stage, but I'm not convinced that we are looking for a player like that.

If we go 9 deep then we are bringing Barbs, Diaw, Skinner and Strawberry off the bench. There just isn't much room to add another actual player.

Nah, we are just looking for a bench warmer so we comply with NBA rules. If we wanted a tough defensive man who can shoot the 3 we'd look no further than Pike

He'd be a nice compliment garbage player at the 4, but I don't see the Suns going after him. Maybe they reward a guy like Otis George with a couple of 10-day contracts. I can't see them signing Frahm since they already have the white SG in Pike.

I'd like to see Rod Benson signed by the Suns. He'd be the best blogger the NBA has to offer.

Agreed. That way, we'll get to know a lot more about the inner workings of the lockerroom.

I think the best guy whom the Suns probably won't sign because of his past is Rueben Patterson, he fits all that they are looking for height, experience postition, defense.
