Jones does have some experience and would give the Suns hustle and toughness at the wing. He can't shoot and a lot of the time when he gets the ball he tries to force drives to the basket. But he is a ridiculous athlete and above average defender. He'd be a good 2/3 for the Suns for insurance in case of injuries but other than that he shouldn't get much PT.

Unless we are willing to spend some $ we aren't going to get the total package of perimeter D and an outside shot. The starting price for those guys is probably around $2m and they usually can't be had for a 2nd rounder.

With that in consideration my understanding of what Kerr is looking for is a similar player to DJ but with more experience. Jones would fit that bill. He has even had some good games against us. I remember him killing us a couple of times as a member of the Grizzle.

Remember with the Kings trade of Bibby they are taking on 4 players so they are talking about waiving Dahntay so he could sign with the Suns for very miniumum no trade

Diawara earns the minimum, Phoenix doesn't need to use a Te or send out any salary to trade for him. You can acquire him using the minimum salary exception, which isn't only for use when signing people.

Diawara isn't worth trading for. Strawberry has shown more potential than Diawara ever has.

I would say either take the best of the 4 in tomorrow's workout or sign Dante Jones.

We had Powell here in the NBL- southpaw with BIG athleticism...not a bad mid range shooter, not great from 3, and has no inclination to play D...so yeah, a typical overseas US player

carlos powell? that dude was AWESOME in the NBL, played with mega passion and excitement etc, but i dont think he is NBA quality

if we were to look at an NBL based player, look no further than former denver nuggets first round pick Julius Hodge. He is just getting his career on track after taking the 5 bullets in denver a few years back and he straight up is WAY too good for the NBL. His vision, passing, defense, athleticism, rebounding, is all NBA caliber and personally i would take him over powell every day of the week

bobby jones sounds nice tho

i still think there will be a good player cut soon, so we should hopefully be prepared to add a 14th should say a tyronne lue or anthony johnson become available to back nash up

The Suns should offer up their trade excemption (Kurt Thomas) to get either Lue or Johnson and then sign a wing. Its not like the Suns are going to add a ton of salary with the excemption, so lue ($3.5 million) or johnson ($2.8 million) would make sense.
