Should Sarver be less ****?

Post#1 » by Taiyab_K » Sun Feb 24, 2008 10:17 pm

I am a casual basketball fan, and I really dislike the Suns because Nash betrayed my Mavs. Anyways, why is Sarver such a penny-pincher? Time and time again at the draft, he's exchanged draft-picks for cash and with the Marion deal, it's just another way for him to save money.
My name is Taiyab, and I realize there is an intra-team conflict at the Point Guard spot.

worst thread ever

firstly, nash didnt betray your mavs

he was offered a deal by sarver, he asked cuban to match and cuban said no so get your facts straight

secondly, any guy who outbids cuban on a player he once labeled as his "all time favourite" can not be called a penny pincher

thirdly, if the suns wanted to save money they could have kept marion, let him opt out and leave

getting shaq actually gave us MORE in guaranteed contracts than it lost us (not by a huge amount if marion doesnt opt out tho - but he would have)

/ rant

worst thread ever

Cuban refused to match Phoenix's offer for Nash, thats hardly a betrayal on Nash's part.

the weird thing about the suns is...

kurt thomas defense & rebounding > shaqs D & R (not including 2 1st rd picks)

marions offensive impact > shaqs offensive impact

phx run&gun >>phx half court(with even diesel)

phx future with thomas, 2 1st rd picks, & marion opt out>>> shaq with another 2yrs/40mil left

From a bball standpoint I'll never understand kerrs or your owners thinking. Last year you guys were the best team in the playoffs & got robbed by bad officiating & unjustly suspensions. So now you lose your best paint defender & perimeter defender for a big name that should improve you half court offense (which plays into half court teams hands) while making your defense 1 of the worst in the league? Is it about jersey sales & national televised games? I don't understand it.

If you saw this phx suns throughout the season, There was chemistry problems. Shawn was a great player but his act was wearing thin. He was statistically the best rebounder on the team but when you see the game he was never going for tough grindout rebounds. Kurt Thomas was a good defender but duncan still scored 30 and grabbed 15 boards vs phx. The suns needed a jolt of energy which what they got from shaq. Shaq's presence also allowed Amare to play at 4 his natural position. I think the big problem the suns have is LB and NAsh cant guard anyone of there life depended on it. I think Nash's TOs are getting absurbed. He needs to take care of the ball better.

This game was not really indicative of how good phx is but mentally there really isnt anything there. I think the suns are at a point where they have to decide to play physical or revert to the soft suns of old. They got outrebounded bad today and I thought a lot of it has to do with the team not leaving it all out there.

no one is going to give the suns the championship so at somepoint Amare, NAsh has to play better defense. I like nash but his defense hasnt gotten any better the last 3 yrs and he always talk about improving to get to that next level and so far on defense he hasnt brought it.

I'll admit I've only watched 12 games or so this year

He was statistically the best rebounder on the team but when you see the game he was never going for tough grindout rebounds.

I disagree, but then again you've probably seen more games & understand your teams chemistry alot better than I do

Kurt Thomas was a good defender but duncan still scored 30 and grabbed 15 boards vs phx.

If he did that on KT, what do you think he'd do against broken down shaq? In shaqs prime he"d give up big #'s to duncan.

The suns needed a jolt of energy which what they got from shaq. Shaq's presence also allowed Amare to play at 4 his natural position

So they lose 1 of there most energetic players for a 36old C that can't run or jump anymore? I'll agree amare's game got easier with shaqs presence. Most playoff teams won't double team shaq though. Isn't the suns .500 or close to it since the trade.

I think the big problem the suns have is LB and NAsh cant guard anyone of there life depended on it. I think Nash's TOs are getting absurbed. He needs to take care of the ball better.

nash's game is run&gun. If you put him in a half court offense you take away most of his strengths while exposing his avg/subpar defense

This game was not really indicative of how good phx is but mentally there really isnt anything there. I think the suns are at a point where they have to decide to play physical or revert to the soft suns of old. They got outrebounded bad today and I thought a lot of it has to do with the team not leaving it all out there.

Maybe Thomas & Marion would've been a upgrade over the Diesel. I could be wrong

I agree mostly. Nash was a warrior out there last year & didn't get the respect he'd deserve(really the whole team also). Good luck this year & hopefully see you in the finals
