Why not sign both Giricek and Barry?

Post#1 » by Arles » Thu Feb 28, 2008 10:52 pm

In the event that upset happens and Barry comes out west, why shouldn't the Suns drop Piatkowski or Johnson and sign Giricek as well? He certainly offers more than either of those two guys and he would be insurance on Barry's calf.

Plus, we could run out a second unit of Barry-Barbs-Giricek-Diaw-Amare/Shaq. That would be 3 high % threats from the 3 with Shaq or Amare. Seems like it makes sense to add Giricek whether we land Barry or not. If Piat can't rise from the ranks of the DNP when we had multiple injuries/trades earlier on, I doubt he ever sees time later in the season. And, at age 37, it's not like Eric is here for the future.

(BTW, if a mod wants to combine this thread with another, feel free. I just thought it would be an interesting discussion point while we wait for the Barry news).

I am down for that, but let's keep Johnson, he has looked pretty good to me. You can have 15 guys under contract, right?

Any Chance the Suns can extend Pike and Kiwi I would hate for the Suns to lose those 2 guys this summer in free agency.

I hope the Suns don't have to play the Hornets, Lakers, Spurs, Mavericks, or Golden State or Utah or Denver in the 1st round of the playoffs

i would take giricek, barry, keep linton johnson AND claim cassell off of waivers whether he wants to come here or not

the suns have a trade exception which means we can claim cassell (if we want the 8 mil hit on our books including the tax) off waivers whether he likes it of not

us and golden state can do that

im sure he goes to boston and barry to san an and we get giricek (which is not terrible) but screw it, get all 3 for sure!

I love your thinking. Getting 1 of them would help, getting 2 would be awesome, getting all 3 would bring new life and rotations to life here in Phoenix.

We used to be so young few years ago....not only we're old now, we keep trading away rights to our picks for bags of rock and cactus.

I'd consider releasing both Marks and PIke for Gordon and Barry/Cassell

I don't think their salaries are completely guaranteed?

Because its worthless even talking about it. There's 0% chance Barry signs with us. He "considered" us so Stern wouldn't JerryStackHousePimpSlap him.

We can't do that, because it would make too much sense Arles.

then why would you even post? he's asking for your opinion of how it would be if it happened, not whether it will happen or not.

i seriously hate it when someone starts a conversation with some "if" scenario and other person just says "who cares because it wouldn't happen" such a conversation-killer.

Okay, let's start discussing how we can get Monta Ellis, Ron Artest, and/or Chris Paul.

Return to Phoenix Suns
