I'd just thought I'd set the record straight.
First the "the TWolves didn't want him" bit. Owner Glen Taylor is highly unlikely to go over the lux, and his team needed to make a decision on which guys they'd have room for under the lux last Fall. Keeping Green's option would have cost $2.5 mil, and I'd have been in favor. However, if during the season, guys like Gomes, Telfair, Craig Smith or anyone else emerged, its quite likely that Green would have not only put them over the lux, but cost them the lux piece as well -- or forced them to cut a different player. Would Green be worth $2.5? On sheer athleticism, I think a young team takes that risk. Is he worth $7 mil? No way.
(Incidently, MIN has created more cap space since then, with the buy-outs of Juwon Howard and Ratliff, so paying to keep his rights, rather than become a UFA might have been worth it. However, there were still roster size issues.)
Second, I think many of you have a good feel for Gerald Green. He needs to improve his defense, and his handles are bad. He also has a lot BBall IQ. However, "bad attitude" is not correct. It was widely reported that Green was a gym rat, and worked extremely hard to improve his game. I'm generally very opposed to these young high schoolers that feel entitled to a future in the NBA, and I can understand why people may want to pigeonhole Green that way. However, he started way behind in court IQ, and there aren't many high schoolers with a reported 48" vertical leap AND a good work ethic.
I've got no dog in this race, with Green off to another team for Kirk Snyder (who's been a surprise) and a second rounder. However, I think he might be someone the Suns would want to look at. Nash would make the game easier for him, and the benefits of his athleticism would be magnified in your offense. He's still only 21 (he'd be finishing his junior year of college), and I think the Suns could place a cheap bet on his potential.
