If a PG like Augustin is available with their pick (or could be had by trading up with Portland #1 and Atlanta #1) i'd trade Barbosa for Outlaw + DJ Augustin.

Yeah, Outlaw ain't bad on D.

Don't think Augustin wud be still available w/ their pick tho.
We cud trade up and go after Mayo, or who knows maybe even Rose if we get lucky with the ATL pick

He just isnt inclined to be one, its not instilled in his natural game. He is an explosive scorer, but he finishes way too soft and needs to attack the rim with agression, and draw consistent contact. His ballhandling skills are mediocre, and not on par witht the likes of Nash, Paul, Deron and even Alston. If Barbs runs your team, your looking at alot of turnovers and forced shots.

He is a starter quality player though, but best played at the 2 spot.

At the start of season I wuda said Barbs is untradable, but now I say if the right package is put up and we get a PG backup that can pass the ball, and a swingman that plays defense in return then do it!
Blazers don't have a tradable defensive swingman, but we cud pick 1 up w/ that draft pick

I was thinking that sending Steve Blake as part of the package would make sense. He isn't flashy, but can play good D get the team into its offense and knock down the open 3.

You're right that the Blazers don't have a lockdown defender on the wings. Between Outlaw and Webster, Webster is a better defender and rebounder. I actually think he would be a good fit on the Suns. He has the skills, but one of his biggest barriers is mental. He tends to over think a bit. When the offense is moving quickly or in transition he does well, but when things slow down and he has to anticipate the ball moving his way he's sometimes not sure what to do.

I was thinkin of Blake when I said that as well. Always thought that guy wud be a perfect fit on our team, he's like a poor man's Steve Nash...
Say we get Blake, and the Portland pick which we use on a strong defensive swingman with nice offensive potential like Batum, and use the Atl Pick on a strong rebounder/post player like Kevin Love (else a big body like Hibbert) to play next to Amare, and we got a good lookin versatile bench with sick potential to maybe take over the starting spots down the road once Hill/Shaq retire...

PS : Between Outlaw n Webster I like Outlaw better. They're comparable defenders (solid), but Outlaw's reboudin better and has the upperhand on offense.

^I hear you, Outlaw has definitely turned the corner this year. I would be comfortable with either him or Webster in a potential deal. Given Barbosa's and Outlaw's BYC status it looks near impossible to include a pick in any deal.

Thanks for your feedback Suns' fans, this thread has given me a good sense of Barbosa's worth to the Suns and on the trade market.

Good luck tonight.

we are already short on 3 point shooters right now, i cant condone trading barbs for anyone who is a worse shooter than him

i dont care if they are a better defender, we have bell who is one of the best

the key to opening up space for a frontcourt of amare shaq is to surround them with 3 point shooters, right now we have nash barbs and bell as legitimate threats, with hill giricek able to him them at times

i would not trade barbs for anyone who cant keep that level of spacing up

There are 3 scenerio's that I would trade Barbosa for and here there are...

1) The Suns get Mike Miller from the Grizzlies .
2) The Suns move up to to 2-5 in the NBA draft.
3) We package Diaw and Barbosa for Andre Iguadala.

Anything else is plain out stupid to get rid of Barbosa. Of course Lebron James for Barbosa straight up!!

GO SUNS!

No trades, lets keep Barbosa, Bell, Amare, Nash and Shaq for the rest of their careers.
