Is Mike D'Antoni a terrible coach or what?

Its not about talent, its about the mental edge and basketball IQ.
D'Antoni has adjusted fine. He is putting this team in a good as a position to win as possible. The Suns players just have to step it up. Do they have problems? Absolutely. I just do not see how getting rid of Mike will do that. Riley, Pop, or Naismith himself

would not make them win at this point. All of those coaches have had droughts at one time or another. Let's see how the Suns respond at home before crucifying Mike.

People, did Mike not letting Amare to rebound the ball? 3 rebounds at halftime is unacceptable. Amare needs to learn that a lot of guys can score in this league. Its the ones that defend and rebound that make it to that next level. I'm already losing faith in him of becoming a better defender and rebounder, I just hope he could at least step it up in the playoffs and he's yet to done that. A guy who's suppose to step his game up in the post season, he sure has disappointed me.

I think Amare will go down as one of the greatest offensive power forwards of all time. Unfortunately he does very little else.

I think D'Antoni is a decent coach. I think he'd be a better assistant though. He doesn't seem to have the mental edge that many other great coaches bring.

All opinions though. They mean very little.

If anything, Amare is underrated by media and most fans because Nash is still on this team. He does overhype himself though.

When it comes to his offense talent he is not overrated, but on a defensive/rebounding standpoint he definitely is the majority of the time. D'Antoni needs to do what Stan Van Gundy did to Dwight Howard and call his ass out to step up on the defensive/rebounding part of the game because he is skating by since he can put up 30 points a night.

MD wont call out his player. He is soft. I agree with some of what toucansma said, but the fact is, MD is a regular season coach, not a playoff coach. The team also is soft mentally, which cares over from the coach too.

Amare is not overrated either. To say that shows the lack of an IQ in its self. Hes like a majority of the nba, one tracked mind/talent.

I've tried to purge that game from my memory, but if I remember correctly, it seemed like the game was out of reach at the end. Can you shed more light?

There was a point with 1-2 min left we were up by only 5 points and yet you left our guys open to run plays like the Parker shot and the Duncan dunk. I just felt like you should of been trying to make us earn it from the spot.

If Grant Hill was healthy, nobody would be talking about firing D'Antoni.

I'm convinced Phoenix would have won one of these games if Hill was healthy.

His injury was a huge blow to this team.

Yup I'm with you there. Or coach should have called a time out to set up plays, match-ups, etc.. none of which happened, until it was far too late.

That's the diff between D'Antoni and Pops, I think.
