Nash wants to play 4 more seasons!

Also noteworthy: Steve Nash told Scott Williams (our new TV analyst) that he wants to play 4 more seasons. He has two years left on his current deal with the Suns, and barring any drastic dip in his abilities and production, he would like to play two more years after that. He remains in fantastic shape and still has that boyhood exuberance at the tender age of 34.

He is a real Chuck Norris.

Aaaah but did he say he wants those last two season at the vet min IN Phoenix?

hey why not, Stockton did it and Nash is well on his way as well. Sign him, give him a decent deal to stay and develop our future guards.

I don't see why he wouldn't take a vet min and stay in PHX. He's not a money hungry guy anyway. Dallas must have low balled him hard for him to leave. I think he should still be very serviceable when he get's his new contract. Ev

i don't see why we wouldn't give him the contract he deserves, which clearly isn't the vet min, if he still plays on a similar high level. Of course there will be a decrease in his salary(probably in his abilities too)
but i think it wouldn't exactly be first class behaviour if we gave him a vet min contract.

he earned it.

That is awesome news. If Dragic is not the answer as a back-up, it is good to know we have another couple years to figure it out.

Great to hear - Last season I thought he was only slowed by his back - touch wood that this season he continues his dominance at the PG spot. I can see him playing 4 more seasons for sure!

I think it'd be great for him to slowly decrease his minutes to 0 rather than just retiring end of next season after playing 30-35 minutes per game. Maybe 25 and 15 in those extra 2 seasons, mentoring Dragic or whoever is the new PG at that stage...

It'll be nice if Nash could be one of them player-coaches like Eric Snow. That would keep our offense going even without him playing a huge role at point. This is all after his current contract is over of course.

offering nash the vet min is a stupid idea and a slap in the face to him. please don't mention things like that. i think if he produces the same as now that even the mid level exception is lowballing him. he wants to stay a sun, and i say we let him retire a sun with a fair contract.

A 36 years old Nash is still effective point guard. First and foremost Nash never relied his game to any athleticism and quickness he had in his entire career. Its his basketball IQ and feel for the game that makes him Steve Nash. Nash is still worth at least the MLE after his contract expires in 2010.
