I want what pet's been smoking.

I could understand a bit of homerism, but this guy is taking it to a whole different level. Nene will NEVER do Amare numbers. He may defend better than Amare and maybe grab more rebounds, but he just doesn't have it in him to put up 25ppg even with Nash on his team.

"Again, Nene can help more his team then Amaré..." (!) eastsidecrossover, couldn't have said it any better. "Nene is Kawme Brown who can catch most balls that come to him." And maybe have a few post moves but other than that, I couldn't have said it better myself.

"Nene clan play defense, share the ball, play post moves," - mate this is all good and well, but to take Nene over Amare over that is like taking Cassel over prime Nash. Cassell has a few decent mid range post moves, and can defend a bit and share the ball, but Nash is just on a whole different level, despite his inability to defend.

I'm not saying he's a bad player since he has had a history of injuries, but he's definitely not worth his 10mil a year contract, even when he's playing his best injury free.

I just did some research, I had no idea Nene's highest scoring game, after 6 years in the league, was only 28.

..

To put things in perspective, Amare nearly AVERAGED that last season.

Nene is a nasty man-on defender, a decent rebounder... and hasn't shown any improvement since being drafted, except in the area of missing games. His per-minute numbers are almost identical unless you include his 16-game 07-08 season. He hasn't appreciably improved upon his foul rate, which has always been a big problem. He hasn't improved his rebounding (though I'm not suggesting he SHOULD, he's already a good rebounder) and his TS% has been within tolerance the entire time.

Nene's an overhyped player; very good, and if he could stay healthy, he could easily be a 13/8 or 14/9 type player, but he's not as amazing as some seem to believe.

Nene is better than Kwame in more ways than just catching the ball, he's a better rebounder.

But yeah, Nene is a roleplayer and Amare is a star player, there's a big difference there. If we had Nene instead of, say, Robin Lopez or something, then yeah that'd be great. But not instead of Amare.
