Porter counting on strong 2nd Unit

I still have a man-crush on D'Antoni, but the fact that we have a 2nd unit that our coach is going to play is AWESOME.

But..."White Heat?" Seriously?

I love our bench this year more then I loved it the past 4 seasons.

Grant
Barbosa
Diaw
Dragic
Lopez
Amundson
Tucker
Singeltery.

After all this years we finally have a nice young bench with energized players.

D'Antoni's bench was never good because he never used it so they filled it with useless players that would not get minutes anywhere else. But now that we have a coach that uses the bench, we have filled it with great young players and enough talent to be competitive against any other teams 2nd unit.

I see a
Shaq
Amare
Barnes
Bell
Nash

then the 2nd unit of
Lopez
Diaw
Hill
Barbosa
Dragic

I love having Hill come off the bench for us. It pairs him up with another high IQ guy in Diaw. Gives our 2nd unit solid leadership and a great play maker without losing too much on the offensive end. I would really like Amundson to get more time, he's proven himself imho. He didn't play above and beyond but he did what he was suppose to with hustle and rebounding and the occasional blocked shot.

Great analysis, I like it.

As a prediction I've been thinking about I think in particular, Robin is going to impress. Obviously Hill, Barbs and HOPEFULLY Diaw will out-stat him. But Lopez and Terry Porter are a match made in heaven and Shaq's minutes will be slowly deteriorating. With a 7 foot body and defensive intensity, as long as he develops an offensive set (even if its robotic) he could be on the court for 20 minutes as far as I'm concerned. Why? Because Amare can handle the post scoring and is still mediocre on defense, so a tall defensive big next to him is a pretty logical combination.

I have high hopes for Robin, I see him right now getting ALOT of fouls this season, but that shows the aggression in him. I can see him being the next Mutumbo in this league, block tons of shots, have great on-court communication (but teammates would actually be able to understand what he is saying haha), not be excellent on offense but will do what is needed, and most importantly, be a great teammate. (In my opinion, Mutumbo was one of the best teammates to have in the history of the NBA).

Yikes, put some pressure on the kid why don't you?!!

I think more like Mutombo in 02-03 and 03-04 for his first few years, and perhaps Chandler's first few years might be a good indication, which I'll also be happy with. He's more polished offensively than Chandler when he first came in, and I think will be a much faster learner/change his game to suit the pros.

First year around 5-6pts and 5-6reb with 1-1.2blks I think...

This is the first time in a long time that I can remember being excited about our bench. We have 3 that could be starters with a maybe for Lopez....should be great
