Bring back Bell!

Post#1 » by Krush32 » Sun Dec 14, 2008 6:02 pm

Why don't we bring back Bell? Charlie Bell. He's the defender we need behind Nash, and Barbosa would be expendable with a rotation of Richardson/Nash/Barnes/Bell/TBD(Marbury)/Dragic in the backcourt.

Lets say Leandro Barbosa for Charlie Bell and Francisco Elson?

I really wouldn't mind getting him.

He's a good wing defender, can handle the ball and even play a little PG, has range and is a good shooter (averaged 27 ppg in the Spanish league with several 40+ efforts, and remember FIBA games last 40 min).

And has a nice contract too (a bit too long though).

Barbosa has alot more value, but Bell I think can do what we need Barbosa to do at a cheaper price. In our post up style offense all Barbosa is good for is spotting up, and hitting open shots. I believe Bell can do that almost as good, but he can also hold his own on the defensive end which Barbosa can't. Francisco Elson or some other big man would help improve our interior depth.

Barbosa does a lot more than spot up shooting. Dont be silly to attempt to make a point.

I didn't say all he does is spot up and shoot. In our new slow down post up offense his role is to knock down open shots, and cut to the basket from time to time. In that offense he doesn't get to utilize his strengths which is running and getting out on the fastbreak. In the half court offense he is a below average passer into the post, he doesn't create open shots for other people, doesn't rebound, and makes bad decisions.

I was just saying the Role he plays in, Bell can be almost as good.
