So far what do you think about him? Does he have the potential to be the Suns starting center when Shaq retires?

Does he have solid starter written on him or bust? Tell us what you think.

As the 15th pick, and as a young center, it takes time to develop his skills and what type of player he is going to be. As of now, I am more optimistic about his potential then Tragic’s potential (ie. The 2nd best PG in the draft). To me, Lopez has shown flashes of what he can do. He has had some nice games blocking shots, shows some decent moves, but his rebounding I have not been that impressed with as of now.

I think in time, he CAN be a starting center that avg around 10-14 ppg, and around 7-9 rpg with 1-2 bpg. If so, that would be a solid role player for us. The league does not have that many good centers, so he can be a decent guy. But he is not a bust and most likely at the 15th pick, he won't be a bust unless he gets worse then he is now.

I know it's been said time and time again, and maybe it is partly because of his hair, but he plays just like an Anderson Varejao. I think his potential is a slightly better Varejao.

Both energetic, long, athletic, decent shot blocking, good defense with the tendency to pick up fouls due to too much activity.

Andy looked like a better rebounder, but Lopez looks like he's starting out with a slightly better offensive game.

I'm thinking Lopez ends up a 12 / 8 rebound type guy with a couple years of 10 and 6 with decent defense. Not sure I'd call him the future starter or anything, but he has a shot at it.

Worst case scenario he's a great backup for his career.

Varejao > Lopez. Needs more time and aggressiveness.
