Stoudemire pledges to elevate game

Post#1 » by Mr. Sun » Sat Feb 7, 2009 8:55 pm

Amaré Stoudemire has a carrot for any team seeking him in a trade or one for the Suns to keep him.

He pledges that another level of his play is coming.

"If we have a solid trip, that would be great momentum going into the second half of the season," Stoudemire said. "Every season since my rookie, after All-Star break, my game goes up a notch because we're closer to the playoffs and buckling down and focusing in.

"That's how it was last year before we acquired big fella (Shaquille O'Neal). Then we got big fella and I stayed consistent with that. It's not going to change this year."

Stoudemire takes more perimeter shots this season, popping out more often off his screens for Steve Nash rather than rolling to the basket. Last season, 19 percent of Stoudemire's shots came from 15 feet or longer. This season, that portion is up to 28 percent.

"That's the strategy that the coaching staff has for me," Stoudemire said. "I can't roll because the big fella is down there so I've got to pick and pop now, which is something new for me. I'm so used to pick-and-rolling and finishing in the paint. Pick and pop is something I just started doing this season. The space is not quite the same. The pick and pop at times is great at times."

If you believe this, I have some prime real estate in the Florida swamplands I can sell you.

Last summer he hyped up his defense. The summer before that he hyped up his 3 point shot. The summer before that he talked about how broad his shoulders were to carry the team to victory.

Words words words words...

Amare' or Amarè or Amar'e or WHATEVER, we want FACTS not words. For those we already have Kerr that hypes up every stupid move he makes.

We are fans of Amare the way that the parents of a very, very smart D student are fans of their child.
