The way he is playing he doesnt deserve max money, just because people have overpaid certain players doesnt mean we should.

If he shows he can rebound consistently then maybe he should get max money.

the 25-9-2 Amare from the end of last season is the Amare that is worth a max deal. Not so much this season.

However, like Tastic said, he can be a max player if he can be complimented by a solid defensive player. Shaq was that solid defensive player until Porter switched their roles.

If we want to keep him for the assumed max money, we're going to have to make sure that we create a team around him that works to his strengths.

FWIW, the only 20/10/5 players who come to mind in recent years have been Garnett and Webber... Garnett moreso than Webber. And there was no '3' after that, either. That's overly ambitious.

25/9, yeah, he's done that before, so it's not entirely out of the question. That's a max player, especially at his efficiency.

Max money is a lot for a guy who only really plays half the game, though.

I think he is a max player, but when an agent says his player wants a say in where he goes, thats when I say screw you, he has no right or anything in his contract that states he can interfear with this. Suns have to do whats best for them and you, amare are still getting paid. Stuff like this makes me want to trade him evenmore.

dude c'mon, Amare is not a max player at this point. Look at his stats (21ppg, 8.1rpg, 2.0apg, 1.1bpg) look at our record! Now you be realistic. You are telling me that Amare can't be a 20+, 10, 3blks? I deleted the 5 assist from the equation cause we have Nash, but still at this point he's already doing 2.0apg? He's not a max player, not with those numbers.

The agent is just stating the obvious. ANY team considering a trade for Amare is NOT giving much for a short-timer especially if they won't be top contenders right now. It's hardly any surprise Amare expects a Max deal and he will get it...or very close.

Sure....the Suns can trade Amare as a pro-rated temp..and get a couple of fairly decent players packing some salary baggage, but no high picks, no 2-3 rising young stars, none of the payoff talked about in a couple dozen trade threads. Clev might give what they can..but that's not much of a package,or Port could give Raef and a good youngster like Bayless, maybe a future pick. Either of those teams could ride Amare somewhere in the next 2 playoffs. As a UFA...Amare WILL go where he wants to,if the Suns can send him WHERE HE WANTS to PLAY, at a Max deal..the Suns CAN get a S+T.
However...then the Suns are taking back MORE contract $.

Toronto has basically the same thing going. Bosh expects max $ and will get to pick and choose among a few teams ready to pay. A team can be "small market" and still make payroll and make a title run. San Antonio ...Portland don't even have other big league teams. They ARE..however..contenders.
The Clips,Nets,Knicks,Warriors,Bulls, are pretty "Big Market" but are non-contenders.
CENSORED... No comment.
