Barbosa to Memphis?

Post#1 » by SD2042 » Wed Feb 18, 2009 11:49 pm

According to a couple of links below. The Suns appear to be in talks with the Grizzlies about sending Leandro Barbosa to the Grizzlies for a second round pick. I want to know from the Suns fans if there is any truth to this potential truth.

I'll be PISSED if that's what they do...if it were for a 1st and Lowry or Conley, I'd think about it..But he's played well as of late and now that we're running it'd be a DUMB move

JRich would be better to move...Send him to MEM for Buckner + Lowry...DONE

Barbosa goes into the starting lineup

no way in hell we give up barbosa for a second round pick. i wouldnt even give him up for a first round pick, unless top 5. the only trade that can save us some money is possibly barbosa/tucker for warrick/lowry/pick, but even that i wouldnt do. I love barbosa, he can score 20ppg if given the opportunity to run with nash.

Unfortuantly I am sure the Suns will do it to avoid the tax. Will have Big negative impact on our offense.

On the other hand I can't see Griz taking of salary.

They better not trade Barbosa for something as stupid as that.. Then I would really tell Sarver to Kiss my a**!! If this moron does this trade, why should I keep purchasing season tickets if he's not going to put the effort to win? ... This would be a total dissapointment in my part...

You may need to get ready. The Suns as stated are looking to move salary since the Amare trade looks less likely to happen. The economy is effecting everyone. Look at the trade between the Hornets/Thunder on Tuesday. The Hornets didn't want to move Chandler, but it was neccessary to avoid paying the lux tax. I understand that Barbs is respected here to the fullest here and would be missed if this trade goes down. And the fans would lead an uprising in PHX against Kerr and Sarvor

From the Grizz perspective, I wouldn't mind this move. He would give the Grizz instant offense from off the bench at SG. Something the team lacks off the bench overall. Since the Grizz are well under the salary cap. I'm sure within reason, they won't mind taking on some salary of certain players.

The Grizz won't be doing that. Just like teams are reluctant on taking Peja Stojakovic's contract, same thing towards J-Rich.

That works Ray Ray, it's actually PERFECT. We'd start Ross, who's a solid defender and athletic wing, with Grant (he's not a bad spot up shooter, has a bit of range), which helps with our defensive woes, and we still have Barbosa off the bench as a solid scorer and he wouldn't have to handle point guard duties, because Lowry would do that, and he's also a great defender and a good point guard.

Nash/Lowry
Ross/Barbosa/Tucker
Hill/Barnes/Dudley
Amare/Lou/Dudley
Shaq/Lou/Lopez

That seems like a MUCH better team, not going to lie. Our only defeciency would be a big off the bench... sign someone maybe, cause we'd be saving like 7-8million if we made this deal, which would put us below lux tax by a minimum contract I'm sure...

You guys don't get it! Griz owner does not want to take on salary! He is not interested in improving the team through trades. Lakers had to PAY the Griz to take Mihm off their hands.

The move this team did was to get rid of TP. barbs is perfect for the run and gun, but there is a chance he could be moved. But no way in hell for such a horrible trade they do that. J-rich is not going either. Plus, no way in hell do I want barbs in the starting lineup. nash and barbs are the worst tandem in the nba when it comes to D. We become even worse and J-rich will thrive even more with the coaching change.

Suns will stand pat, just watch unless an amazing deal comes to them.

There's no way we make that trade, it's horrible! If we're giving up Barbs for picks we better be getting at least a 1st rounder out of it! Combine this with the input that the Memphis doesn't want to take on salaries and I don't see it happening.

Worst trade idea/rumor ever.

Seriously? A 2nd round pick is all we get back for Barbosa. If it goes down, I'm gonna start saving some money so I can catch a plane to Phoenix and knock Sarver's teeth out.
