^Well yeah, but I'd be a defensive upgrade of Nash... ;)

We don't need another aging PG, I'd rather target a guy like Sessions, Duhon (trade and try and get DLee) or even a cheaper alternative like Earl Watson or throw some money at Ray Felton

I don't think Nash shouldn't be scoring 25point a game. The SUNS are better when he is looking to pass

If they need scoring then anybody but Nash should pick up the scoring.

Nash has scored 20 or more points 6 or 7 straight games and we have lost 6 or 7 straight since he has scored more

---- Agree. This team needs to go the PTL or OKC route, painful as that may be. Shuttling in former stars on the downside of their careers is how teams stay mediocre forever.
Absolutely (Please Use More Appropriate Word), head-shakingly silly idea.
No offense

Some of Shaquille's former teams have done very well by bringing in veterans. The Magic added Horace Grant and made the NBA finals. The Lakers added guys like Glen Rice and Ron Harper. The Lakers started going south when they had too many young players. The Heat won a championship by surrounding Shaq with mostly veterans, with Gary Payton, J-Will, and Antoine Walker being regular contributors.

Iverson may still be hungry to win a championship. If there is a young superstar out there, maybe the Suns can use Nash to get him. Iverson is an aging superstar but he will be a free agent and therefore readily available. Maybe the Suns can trade Nash for draft choices and use the money to sign some veteran pieces to build around Shaq.

I see your point but when teams bring in vets it's usually to buttress an existing roster and system - I think of McAdoo for some reason - and it's generally in a reduced role.
Trading Nash for AI doesn't make any sense to me because we're in a situation where we need to rebuild the team almost from the ground up and I can't see how Iverson advances that.
What I really don't get is the idea that Sarver/Kerr might let Nash walk by declining his option - as i understand it they still have to pay him so while they save about $7mil they get nothing for a two-time MVP still playing near the top of his game. He's definitely on the downside but still one of the best PGs in the league. (Let's not argue about this - I know this is not a universally held opinion on this board.)

So can anyone explain how releasing him makes business sense?
