Coach K will never leave Duke no matter how much $ he is offered. However you might have a shot at that sell out m**f over at UNC...actrually screw that I don't want him anywhere near our roster.

Keep Gentry. Why? Because this experimental bull failed last year and consequently, it's April 30 and we're sitting at home.

I think they purely will keep for monetary reasons, in that he won't need a raise and if he does a bad job then it's cheap buy out time...

ihateginobili that is as good a reason as any for me. So in reality what are ( in your opinions) a good coaching situation for us Suns fans?

Coach K
Rudy-T
Avery Johnson
Doug Collins
Hubie Brown
and my favorite
Dennis Rodman ??? :o

EDIT: Oops obviously Alvin Gentry

Actually ihateginobili, the offense was much better under Gentry. The Suns averaged a league-best 109.4 points (after being in fifth I believe under Porter) and averaged 117.7 points in 31 games under Gentry. The Suns also led the league in field goal percentage, shooting 50.4 percent from the field, something that had not previously been done since 1996-97. Included in that ridiculous 117-point average, Phoenix scored 140 or more points four times after the NBA had seen just nine such games in the previous ten seasons. Think about that for a second. Four times in 31 games, nine times in ten seasons. Pretty amazing.

Actually the offense was a lot better under d'antoni. Think about it, under him we were actually blowing teams out, literally. Under gentry I remember like 3 blowouts against cellar opponents. Under d'antoni we blew out everyone except the spurs, which was the only team that was one step ahead of him for some reason. Also, d'antoni made shooters better and knew how to get the best out of everyone on offense and his set plays were great. He is known as the best coach on offense, all Gentry did was try to imitate his system, D’antoni created the damn thing.

Sorry IHG. The Suns really only consistently blew out teams in 2004-05 when teams were not ready for the run and gun attack. Under Gentry, the Suns had 11 double-digit wins in 31 games under Gentry which included seven 20-point plus blowouts. Not to mention a lot of those games were without STAT and LB. Again, Gentry raised the team's points per game average by about five points after taking over. A number that is incredible considering how many games had already been played. Don't forget, the Suns put up 140, 142, 140, 133, 154, 139 in regulation this season, something that hadn't been done under D'Antoni. D'Antoni only once had a team score 140 in regulation.

i like gentry. he trusts his bench (unlike d'antoni), plays rookies (unlike d'antoni), and i think he's put an effort into teaching the players defense, a bit moreso than d'antoni.

Any interest with Byron Scott if NOR changes coaches?

I rate him higher than Gentry, but think Gentry needs a shot for a full season with this squad/some slight tweaking...

Scott would be a good choice, he did attend college here but he's from LA so I wouldn't be surprised if he holds out until Phil Jackson is gone so he can take over.

FWIW, I've been told that Gentry's agent is hammering out the final details on a 2 year contract.

now all i want to see is amare stay and let him play a full season of run and gun next to shaq

had dantoni stayed, amare would have put up MVP like numbers, i honestly think running with shaq and amare in the lineup is the system that makes amare unstoppable and hope we get to see a full season of it.. (though im worried amare is a goner)
