Amare's twitter...

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Wed Jun 3, 2009 4:30 pm

Looks like Amare has a twitter and is backtracking on the comments he made last week. I still have a feeling he's going to be traded if it's not this summer it will be before the deadline.

I don't want out, the suns are not sure on what they want to do. I love PHX

Depends on our record and his role on this team. If we're looking like we're about as set in stone for the playoffs as Portland was by the trade deadline and if he's putting up like 25/2 then there's no need to trade him and I think it's enough to keep him tame. From there, we just hope he resigns.

lol nice bio:
I'm a four-time NBA All-Star and won a Gold Medal with the US National Team in the summer of 2007.

Looks more like a resume. Is he interviewing for a job or something?

I don't think he is gone at all. He is trying to do business here and make his value to where it was a year or so ago. we were talking about MVP's, one of the best PF's in the game. for some reason, people have devalued him and think he is not worth much and is a cancer on this team.......which is not true. the man I think is getting the suns attention to looking at a max contract extension. He will get that here or somewhere else. If Rashard Lewis can get paid like he has, Amare is work more than he is.

If the suns trade him, I have lost all faith in this team and the morons who are running this organization.

if they trade him and get poor value, ie expirings + a pick I'll be pissed

If they keep him and he re-signs I'll cheer him on as I always have

Agreed though, no faith in this management

amare is just posturing for position..... he wants to be wanted and he wants to win

the suns have made rumblings about not fielding as competitive of a team and i dont blame players for wanting to jump from a sinking ship

but if we are putting a strong outfit out there then of course they will stay, he is just hedging his bets to drive up his value - its what id be doing in the same situation

amare in a run and gun system with shaq next to him will put up 27 11 and 2 next season, KEEP HIM

remember, if we tank next season, we dont get our own pick anyways, we dumped it in the kurt thomas deal to OKC - so we might as well put the best team out there as possible

There is anSDU sighting. With all the Amare talks I thought I would see more posts by you.

I have to agree with you also I think the best team we put out there is the one we got. Unless there is some blow the doors off deal that makes a better team. I say we stay pat.

Frank has said it a few times. I usually don't agree with Frank.

Agreed. Unfortunately the team we have now is the best team we can put out. Other teams know our position and they know we are in no position to bargain for anything that would get us 1:1 value for Amare. All Amare really wants is his max or very close to max extension.

It all comes down to if the Suns decide they rebuild for the future.
Or they continue bleeding Nash and this system until he retires. If the second option then..
[1] Keep Stoudemire, unless a good trade that brings in an athletic finisher at the PF who defends and grab rebounds to put next to O'Neal.
[2] Trade O'Neal and put a big man who is relatively young and can hold the defense next to Stoudemire, and if Stoudemire decides to bolt in 2010, this "big man" is likely to stay pat and become a the Suns starting center for the next few years after that.

First option..
[1] Trade Nash for young picks. Then keep Stoudemire until 2010 then sign and trade him for more young players and picks.

Kerr and Sarver is continuously asking.. and monitoring.
Can the Suns compete with the current lineup?
Is Stoudemire really worth putting 120 Million dollars for the next 6 years?

Can the Suns get good assets for the core players now and just call the season quits to begin rebuilding 2010+.

I think put someone like Noah, Thomas, Diaw (lol), R.Wallace, Okafor, Chandler... basically an energy defense and hustle big man next to O'Neal... the Suns do not miss a beat offensively. The run and gun will ensure lots of finishes on the rim so the PF position is not reliant on someone who can score individually... as Nash and system allows whom ever on that spot to be effective offensively.

i ususally go into hiding in the offseason

all the trade talk that never happens, draft speculation for us to sell the pick and all the other stuff just makes the offseason an annoying time to think too much about what we might do

anti climaxes kill me! haha

If someone's dumb enough to pay that money for a second (in this case even third) banana doesn't mean we have to do the same mistake.

Amare does deserve between $12-15m/year, but anything over than that, and the Suns have to ditch him. He doesn't have the maturity to be a max player (should-be team leader), and his injury history is pretty bad. If they sign him to a max deal and then he ends up like T-Mac, the team will be crippled. Luckily, though (though not for STAT), if the eye injury is deemed career ending, I think insurance pays for most of the player's remaining salary.

I think right now. Before I say anything, I want to make sure that amare can bounce back from this eye injury. it seems like he has durability issues. He think he is already a star but he really isnt. This puts the suns in the bind because Amare hasn really showed he can be a team player. He talk a lot but its clear he is not as good as he think he is. I think the suns will fall bad if they lose amare but at this point does amare really make the suns that much better that he is worth a max contract? what will happen if he does play with this eye injury and recovers but 2-3 yrs down the road it becomes career ending?

I think the suns need to be honest with themselves and to the fans. I do not think this team is as close to a championship as they describe. The window of oppurtunity has closed for them. I think keeping nash is a priority but I think Nash will figure out that this suns team will not get him his championship. Nash needs to realize that by how things have been shaping up, the suns need to rebuild after this year. Its hard to find a legit franchise player but amare is not a legit franchise player. He doesnt turn the suns into an instant contender with his presence on the floor.

I am one of the few people who would like STAT to stay. My logic is that if we don't give Amare a max or close to max extension, another team will. What he is worth is sometimes based less what they can do as an individual but more on the system they play in. Rashard Lewis ain't worth his contract on any other team but he gets paid that much because the Magic FO thinks he is worth that much if he can produce in their system. We have the right system for STAT, and if we surround him with the right guys, he's worth a max extension. Nobody knows how much his eye has affected his game because he hasn't even touched a ball in months, but you can't tell me he ain't worth very close to a max extension with the numbers he was putting put post Shaq-trade last season under D'Antoni.

We won't be attracting any top flight FA's in 2010 that's a given. Amare is in that class and even though he's not up there with the Lebron's and Wade's, he'd still be pursued as if he's in that category. We have a chance at keeping him here in the long-term now, we should take that chance.

Amare has his weaknesses but so does any player we'd likely get back in a trade. It's all about the team we put around him. Really in the end this is a money issue. Our FO don't think he's worth a max extension, he does. It seems like he wants to stay in PHX and he only mentioned those other teams (Wiz, Knicks) because he thinks he'd be able to sign a max extension with him.

Amare is as close to a top 10 player in this league as we'd get any time soon. Is he worth a max extension? Maybe, maybe not. But he's definitely as close to a max extension guy as we'd see in the near future. We have plenty of of cap space come 2010, let's use it to build around Amare. There are a few franchise players who are more of a role player playing with a leader, look at Iguodala, Ellis and Melo. Amare can be the face of the franchise without being the leader.
