That could mean the deal is in place for tomorrow.

Could you have an uglier avatar than the one you currently have? Why don't you make a sam cassell signature while you're at it.
Mavs busy; Suns . . . not so much
Mavericks lock up Kidd, should sign Gortat and may ink Marion

How would you feel if the Suns were able to do all of this in the past couple of days?
Go to New York to meet with their 30-something point guard, convincing him to stay.
• Potentially lock up a young, active center who will improve their interior defense and rebounding without needing to have his "touches."
• Through a sign-and-trade scenario, target a multi-dimensional veteran who can guard anybody from point guards to centers, further bolster their rebounding and provide a high-octane finisher for that long-in-the-tooth playmaker.
Yep, if you're a Suns fan you would probably be pretty doggone happy because you would have a team that is improved defensively, equipped to play their old up-tempo style and might even be a threat to win a playoff series.
Too bad it's the Dallas Mavericks looking to execute that game plan at the start of free-agent signings on Wednesday.
The Mavericks kept Jason Kidd from bolting to the Knicks and will sign restricted free agent Marcin Gortat - once a second-round draft pick of the Suns - to an offer sheet that the Orlando Magic are not expected to match.
On Tuesday, the Mavericks reportedly were trying to work out a deal with Toronto to obtain that versatile veteran that is near and dear to Valley sports followers - Shawn Marion.
So it looks as if the Mavericks are doing for Dirk Nowitzki what Steve Nash has been hoping the Suns will do for him: position their team to give him one more run at a championship.
Make no mistake; the Mavericks haven't done anything that will make them a favorite to dethrone the Lakers.
Heck, they may not even be able to finish ahead of the San Antonio Spurs, who pulled off that Richard Jefferson coup.

Don't be delusional, we're not going to use our MLE, surely not the entirety of it. Probably not even a portion. Stop dreaming guys. Remeber cheap Sarver is still at the helm.jlove_26 wrote:Love the fact that Kerr said he didn't see Wallace or Pavlovic a part of the team and their contracts are very valuable as trade pieces to get players they want in trades. So, with that said, and Marion and Chandler's names being put out there, would Marion prefer here over the Mavs? Depending on the asking price from Marion (if it's around $6-8 mil) then the Suns could trade Pavlovic and Tucker. If it's higher, say $9-10, then the Suns could deal Wallace for Marion and Parker (S&T). All in all, the Suns would still have their MLE to use elsewhere (say half to Wilcox and part to Frye to shore up 2 more bigs)
