Heh... he deserves big money, because of what he does, and will do for the team. I want him to retire here.

Btw, did you watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann or something?

I can say he's not worth it because I TRUST where the info came from. But you cant justify makeing that much when Kidd just signed for like half that amount and IMHO out preforms Nash (Defense, Rebounds, Steals).

I have seen a couple of Episodes of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but that was YEARS ago and dont see what that has to do with anything.

Right, but what was Kidd making when Nash was a two-time MVP and the 3rd highest paid on the Suns?

Exactly.

It's besides the point because this is either:

A. Simply a good negotiation tactic by Nash.

or

B. What Johnny V explained as a way for the two parties to cut ties amicably.

And i have said it for weeks, this is Nashs way of getting out of Phoenix! He knows the fans love him and is trying to leave with out the heartbreak. Its like breaking up with a girlfriend and trying to let her down lightly. He KNOWS his contract demands are out of the ballpark, but he needs to make it that way because he wants out and has Kerr breathing down his neck telling everyone that will listen that re-signing Nash is our #1 priority. Nash is just trying to be gentle.

I feel like the Nash situation is just like the D'Antoni one. All these Suns fans are begging for his exit yet expecting greener pastures around the corner, but in reality, that player/coach was perfect for our team and worth keeping around despite their price and weaknesses. Only when did we not have a single defensive player on our roster did Nash's defense become more of an issue. I would much rather see Nash with more defensive minded players around him than J Rich and Amare with a defensive minded point guard. Nash is still one of the best and those of you who wish him gone fail to see the bigger picture. He is the leader of this team and despite his age, a great player. You dont just get rid of a top 8 point guard in the league, especially one who has given so much to the franchise. In my opinion, he deserves every penny of the $15 mill he's asking for.

How do you go about calling us idiots when you don't even know the kinda money Nash is asking for. You're basically saying you want to pay Nash top level money for him to retire here. This thread is a complete joke.

The facts are there, this team is not going anywhere anytime soon. We're tied up financially, have an aging PG and possibly injury-prone PF to take care of and the rest of our team are either unmoveable or are too young to contribute significantly. We neither have the money nor the assets to trade for role players that would help cover Amare's and Nash's weaknesses. AND you want to pay Nash top dollar for the next three years to play on a borderline playoff team.

I was once like you, and then I saw the light. Nash cannot be part of our future (3+ seasons from now) if we are to become relevant again. Especially not if we have our books tied to Nash's asking price.

I don't mean to go hard at you like this, but you have to face the facts mate, Nash and our FO knows they can't win with each other especially when both sides have different agendas.

You're going off "what-ifs" rather than what they've done in the past. They won 46 games last season dude. Nothing to scoff at.

This team can win, if we get a good big man that fits the run-and-gun system. Very athletic, good defender. We also need Amare to show up more on defense, getting more rebounds, blocks. We have the pieces. Last season was a complete **** disaster because of the coaching change and losing Amare, whose injury, by the way, was caused by Boris jamming his finger in his eye. If that's "injury prone" then everyone in the NBA is "injury prone"
The Phoenix Suns - 54-28. Projected Record: 54-28 3rd Seed

The Phoenix Suns - 2010-2011 Projected Record: 30-52 3rd lottery pick.

What they've done in the past is in the past. This is not the same team as the beginning of last season. Hill is gone, Barnes is gone, Shaq is gone, Amare is unsure where he'll be, likewise with Nash. With all the moves that's happening around us, one or two moves are not enough to put us in the top 4. And if we're not likely to be a real contender, it's not worth tying a significant portion of our money to an aging PG who probably only has a few years left in this league.

This team will win a few more games and maybe make the playoffs if we're healthy, but we're likely only going to be 1st round fodder to the better teams like Spurs, Lakers, Denver, Blazers. And asking Amare to show up on D and grab more rebounds is like asking Nash to play defense, it won't happen. Amare is not injury-prone in the same way guys like Yao, T-Mac and Chandler are but his health, particularly his knees which will need further surgery, are a big enough of a risk to be considered when talking contract extension.

I'll say it again, this team, even with one or two good moves, are still not enough to challenge other title contenders. If you honestly think otherwise, then you seriously need to reevaluate the whole situation. We have no money, no assets and an owner not willing to spend, that's the reality we as Suns fans have to live with.

Did Hill sign with another team? I haven't seen anything. Can I see a link?

Nash is still as productive as ever. He had a great year last year, despite the **** ass coach, and losing Amare... I don't see how you think he's dropped off. Even Shaq played great last year. Why are you guys so down on Nash? He's still an elite PG, and the best thing the Suns will have this year and next.

There are no elite PGs available, and no FAs who can play like Nash. So why would you bring in a **** PG who will surely ruin the team? I don't get it. If he wants something comparable salary-wise, we may as well keep him. He's not going to be max-contract, and without him, the team is literally a 20-win team. He seems worth the money to me.

Sessions is a FA and plays like Nash. He would be AWESOME on this team.

Andre MIller is a FA and plays a Nash'esq game. Pass first, yet a decent defender.

Make a trade revolving around JRICH going to the Pacers for TJ Ford. Ford has so much upside and is a pest on D.

There are many options out there, you just need to know where to look. Now im not calling these players "elite PG's", but in that sense, i dont consider Nash an elite PG either. These are solid PGs that would fit great in our uptempo system.

According to this article on hoopsworld about DAL signing Marion, the might be shopping Howard for a SG.
Hoopsworld wrote:........So essentially what the Mavericks accomplished was they added another wing player in Marion who plays the same position as Josh Howard, with the initial thought being that they could play Howard at the two. While that could certainly work, if we look at the rest of this trade, it seems more likely the team will make a subsequent move to acquire a true shooting guard - one who makes them a contender.

............Consider for a moment two teams who are looking to cut salary, and also happen to have a gaping hole in the middle after moves made to date. First on the list is the Phoenix Suns, and while Suns' owner Robert Sarver's first choice isn't dealing with Dallas, he's not having much luck getting a deal done to cut additional costs. The Suns are said to be interested in moving Jason Richardson, and his deal is close to enough that a trade for Dampier would work . . .and give Phoenix a center to play ahead of Robin Lopez.

Richardson would be a great fit in DAL and give them a chance to be contenders with a starting 5 of:

Kidd,JRICH,Marion,Dirk,Gortat.

Since they just resigned Kidd to a 3 year contract, and have a rookie with potential in Roddy Beaubois, could they afford to give up J.J Berea to obtain a SG that gives them more of an edge?
I propose we trade JRICH for Howard/Berea. It fills both teams holes. Them @ SG and us @ PG/SF. This way we could afford to trade Nash for quality role/bench players. If we did that and sent Wallaces contract to PHI for Dalembert, that would give us a young starting 5 of:

Berea/Barbosa/Howard/Stat/Dalembert.

5 young guys to restart a franchise with. I know Howard has been a knucklehead in the past (420), but if he doesnt work out for some reason, he is an expiring (same goes for Berea). Essentially if things didnt work out, we would STILL be getting rid of JRICH's 2010 pay saving us 13mill.

Take a ponder at that team. No one over 29 years, all athletic and talented, and all filling a role in the Run-n-Gun system.

J-Howard/ Amare/ Dalembert

That has to be the most knuckleheaded front court of all time haha..

Honestly though it's not too bad, I don't like JJ starting though. Haven't we had enough JJ's on our roster though?! ;)

Trade checker says JRich for Howard and Nate Jawai works, as does JRich for Dampier straight up

Either would suit me

Maybe I'm too hard on JRich but he just costs too damn much for what we're getting

For next year i'd take Nash, for the ten i'd take Russel Westbrook... He will be a monster, i like Jameer Nelson also

Nash should finish with the Suns and so should Amare. This franchise owes a great debt to these two All NBA performers. Nash is an elite offensive point guard still and STAT is the best offensive bigman in basketball. Best pick n roll in the history of the NBA this side of Stockton and Malone.

Rebuild the D around them and run like hell. 2010-11 Suns can win the championship
with a little development from the youth and a couplenice front office moves (law of averages? ) and were holding the trophy in June 2011.

One more thing, Derrick Rose nor Rondo are better than Nash. Rondo can't hit the broad side of a barn and Rose can't guard his own shadow or shoot.

Penetrate better? Yes. Passing? NO! Shooting? Hell NO! Leadership? :wavefinger:

Top 10 NBA point guards:

1. Deron Williams- Best all around PG. Has all the tools.

2. Chris Paul- Best off ball defender and best penetrator.

3. Tony Parker- Best Speed and best finisher in the paint

4. Steve Nash- Best passer and shooter. Most clutch.

5. Chauncey Billups- Strongest point guard and most crafty

6. Jason Kidd- All around master, a walking triple double

7. Rajon Rondo- 2nd most athletic and Best on ball defender

8. Baron Davis- Injury prone but electric when healthy. Superior penetrator and finisher

9. Devin Harris- Top 3 defensively. 3rd fastest. excellent size.

10. Derrick Rose-The Future. Most athletic and 2nd fastest. Just needs time and will move to Top 5 in 2-3 years.

Trading Nash without an extension wont net you much this year, and you will end up sucking which will only lead to OKC getting a better draft pick. So why dont you just keep him this year and then elt him go, or sign him to an extension where you can either build around him in the next few years, or trade him and actually get something good back.

Because we had been talking about adding an actual 5, and that we needed to dump JRich because, good as he is at what he does, he costs too much for what he brings.

Honestly, I despair of being able to move him. maybe at the deadline, or maybe he proves us doubters wrong. Seems awfully and expensively redundant to have him and barbs though.
