It will be hard to tell whether Chandler's toe is really that bad or if Sarver was just that intent on getting under the tax. I thought, though, that if we waived sasha, we would be under the tax even if we trade Ben rather than buy him out?

I have a bad feeling that less than a year from now we will be cursing at not having that Hornets pick - got a feeling NO hits the skids this year.

I believe that is correct. Even with Frye and Hill's signing, trading for chandler and buying out Sasha has us just flirting with the tax line

If anyone wants to crunch numbers for good measure it would be much appreciated!

Another ding against Chandler - besides the injury concern is the fact his contract still has another year after 2010. So, that would change the chance at cap space next summer. I think a healthy Chandler makes the deal more palatable - but foot concerns and the contract - did give me pause as well. Last thing we need is another bad contract .

So who expires after this season? I can't remember - my brain is overloaded?

At any rate, I can't blame an owner for wanting to get under the tax if we aren't looking like a contender. He has been paying it for a few years now and those millions add up ....
(green ink really necessary?)

Interested to see what they do with Sasha, and if JRich seems a better fit this year than he did last spring, when we were so rudely interrupted by other people playing for the championship.

Actually, you can blame an owner, who made the team a non contender in the first place. It is his fault we don't have good draft picks to build with, and his poor management skills with contracts like JJ, Banks, and Diaw. So it is his fault. He knew the team was $200 mil in the hole when he bought it.
I am just tired of all the BS from Kerr. Just quit jerking us around. Keeping KT would have given us a good center to start the fast break. It wouldn't have cost us $16 mil if he hadn't jumped the gun on Banks and Diaw.

Actually, we can blame D'antoni as GM for Banks and Diaw contracts, and for telling Sarver he wouldn't play rookies. Sarver gets the blame for JJ.

PS - re; my early question about who is expiring after this season, I meant on our roster. Nash is supposed to be re-upping, Hill is here for two years, Amar'e may play out his deal or re-sign ...

Right - our problems are solved ...

8000k won't getLeBron ina Suns uni but we might be able to hire him to drive past the stadium and wave at people.

Not always 100% accurate but I usually use this:

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/phoenix.htm

Reduce it by 4m because of the Ben Wallace buy-out and we could obviously Pav's contract could work out to be less also.

So we could actually be in a pretty flexible position. Y'know I'm starting to get the feeling that Amare just might take up his player option rather then shopping around. 17.7m aint bad.

If you didn't already know Sham's a user on RGM and yeah he does a fair bit of research to get these things accurate.

Thanks guys

so according to sham, by the end of 2012 we could have let all of our players expire and be in line for some tremendous savings. All right

then we can just have the cheerleaders come out and do suggestive dances for two hours
