Yes agreed. We knee Shaq would be moved for financial reasons. If the Suns were to trade for Chandler they would have the same salary figures as with Shaq. Buying out Ben Wallace saved Sarver 8 mil. His intentions were to cut salary and thats what happened.
As much as I'd like to see a Chandler-Amare combo, its just impossible to have any flexibility with four huge contracts (Nash, Richardson, Amare, Chandler). If Chandler has anything left, he will play until his contract expires, and the Suns would then be able to acquire Chandler then (with Richardson coming off the salary). No way the Bobcats sign him to a long-term deal considering they just traded Okafor because of his long-term contract.
In 2011 the Suns can have a starting lineup of: Dragic, Barbosa, Clark, Amare, Chandler.
I'm fine with the fact that we traded Shaq for financial reasons. What I'm not fine with was our FO telling everyone that will not trade Shaq for financial reasons. They need to quit lying to us, get us a starting center and possibly a defensive 2, who can shoot the 3. Or just send LB, JRich, and Amare to some defense school.
If their ploy was to get more out of the Cavs by saying what they said, it sure didn't work. We got no youth, and a terrible pick (conditional 2nd rounder.)
As for acquiring Chandler, why spend the money if he couldn't even pass the physical for OKC.
