Vegas has us at 40.5

May be not best case, yet it puts us at # 8. I'll take it.... but I wouldn't touch it.

I personally think that's ridiculous. All the problems last year, and we still had 46 wins. Last year was like, the Turkish Prison of NBA seasons.

Personally, I think we over-achieved already last season considering everything that happened. We won all those games on pure talent alone and Shaq keeping us up on his back. This year with so many questions whether if Amare will be back to his 25/9 form, is Nash declining even quicker, are our young guys going to step up and is our system going to win games, I could understand why some people have us 8-10 in the West. I'm still amazed we were only 2 games out of the playoffs last season with all the problems we had.

This season however, I'm not sure if we can keep predict this seasons success based solely on the fact that "we won 46 games last season." It seems the only reason we are looking at a playoff spot is because of major injuries to the Rockets and the internal problems the Dubs are having. We just don't have enough depth at the important positions (C and PG), only have one solid defender in Hill and not one dominant or above average rebounder in our entire front court. Even on a talent level some people have the Clippers over us, so talent-wise we're probably slightly above-average at best in the West.

Our core, Amare, Nash, Hill, JRich and Barbs can only take us to 9th spot at the most, it would be up to our developing young guys to mature and contribute to push us over the playoff line.
