Not a bad loss
If we are going to lose games, losing to an elite team on the road on the east coast on the 2nd night of a back to back isn't bad. As long as we win the games we are supposed to, and learn from these types of games (which also probably bring the team back down to reality if they were thinking too much of themselves), I think we are in good shape. I figured two wins on this road trip would be a success. Any more is gravy. Our team is just going to get better as the season progresses, as the team plays more together and Amare gets back to form (and Barbs gets back).

Every Suns game is like the lottery, there going to be nights like this when the offense doesn't click, there will be nights like last night where it clicks in the second half and there will be games like the Suns home opener where it clicks the entire game.

Re: Not a bad loss
the loss was kinda rough, but there are posotives:
Dragic had his career high in points. he played GREAT today. i am still encouraged by amares play this game.
amare played like a man on a mission. 7 OFENSIVE REBONDS!?!
dudley was fantastic.
EC55 was extremely productive in the minutes that he had.
so... it wasnt all bad.

Your bench looked very good tonight. Dudley is a player and Clark looks like he has the tools.

No one is talking about moral victories. We are talking about what we can expect from our Suns. We lost...Big deal!! Amare is showing signs and Clark showed he can go left, right, pull-up, defend and rebound. I am very encouraged. We aren't winning a title this year, but we have some really young guys here who are showing promise. Go Suns

Re: Not a bad loss
I was really disappointed in Channing and J rich this game. Grant has given us so much he's bound to have an off night plus it was a back to back. J rich and Channing shot us in the foot tonight.
Where is the fast break? It wasn't there tonight either.
I was happy with how Dragic, Dudley, and Clark played. Collins provided some solid minutes solid signing.
Clark does have alot of potential and I think he should be a rotation guy.

Re: Not a bad loss
I didn't get to see much of the game because my feed sucked, but if you look at the boxscore, it wasn't a bad loss. We had two starters that had terrible games, and a third that wasn't that close behind.
Amare played like he should every game, and if this is the Amare we can expect, then right on!
Our bench stepped in and played very well.
Besides the loss, the zero blocked shots bothers me a bit.
The Magic made six more shots than us, five of which were threes. They made five more freethrows, three more boards, five more assists, and three more steels. Even though the score says otherwise, it wasn't a bad loss. It was bound to happen, and on a night when Pietrus came back itching to prove himself. We just can't have most of our starters suck on the same night.

not surprised we lost, but there are things we can take out of it. good to see the bench step up. It is games like this that helps you down the road. What I am saying is, the bench can come in and get the job done.
amare always plays well againts D12. Frye is going to have bad nights like this. I was surprised with J-rich to a point.

Re: Not a bad loss
honestly i feel like they did to channing frye what they did to dwight in our detroit game. I am a huge Magic fan and a homer for my team just like anybody else, but some of the calls were questionable. Frye would have had a much better game obviously if he were allowed to play.
You guys definately have a solid squad overall and hopefully Dragic develops a bit more. You might need one more big that is actually big, but aside from that, i think you guys have a nice offense. Very similar to the magic in that lots of players can shoot the three.
good luck to you guys.

Re: Not a bad loss
To be honest, this feels more like a victory than a loss. It's early in the season so these games don't realyl have as much weight as they do after ASW and teams are still getting into the rhythm and tweaking. I say this felt more like a victory because Dragic had an excellent game, Clark did great with the minutes he got and Amare put up 25/14 against the reigning DPOY. We were close in the half and it wasn't until we choked in the 2nd half where they took over. JRich and Frye had a pretty poor game but I don't expect them both to suck in the same game too often.
I'm not saying it wasn't a loss because the numbers says it is, but there's a lot to take away from this game. And really, most of us didn't expect a win anyway, even without Carter and Lewis in their line up.

I'm just saying there are games you are probably expected to lose anyway, and we aren't at full strength, and we are on an east coast road trip on the second night of a back to back. They weren't at full strength either but nonetheless, we are on an east coast trip playing a second night in a row.
As long as we beat the teams we should beat, play tough at home and get better as the season progresses, I'll be happy.
I'm not talking about moral victories.

My optimism for this team just dropped quite a bit. Hopefully they can bounce back, the back to backs will be difficult this year for the team without barbs.

Hang in there. Don't let one bad game kill your optimism. Being a younger fan probably gives you higher highs and lower lows. This entire road trip may be tough, and they may not win another game on it, but they are playing tough teams on the road and will only keep getting better.

Re: Not a bad loss
I said in the game thread that no outcome would surprise me, and I was right. Nash & Hill looked really old, J-Rich was terrible, Frye had no rhythm because of the foul trouble, and the whole team generally looked flat & tired. (How many good looks wound up falling short? I think about 10. That's a sign of a team with no legs.) Combine that with Orlando playing really well at home (especially pissed off & fired up after their first loss) and you have a blowout. Not a big deal, really.
I'm also pleased that our bench played well. Dudley looked great, Drago looks like he's really developing into a real NBA player, Clark showed some promise, Sweet Lou did his thing, and Tucker showed why his option didn't get picked up. Okay, the last one wasn't so great, but whatever.

Well said - team is a work in progress, as they say, and we've seen all kinds of good things so far - defense, particularly Stat, Hill and Nash playing like monsters, Frye and Collins both being good pickups, Dragic's improvement

Re: Not a bad loss
I really hope that Frye can learn to stay consistent with his shooting for away games. That's a big key to the Suns success... a lot is riding on FG%. I am really pleased with the Suns effort to grab rebounds so far, however. They haven't been blown out on the rebounding end yet, and I hope to see them continue that trend. If they can stay even, or even outrebound the other team, the Suns have a much better chance at winning night in and night out.
