unfair schedule?

Post#1 » by BNT1120 » Mon Dec 7, 2009 4:06 pm

stop crying. 80% of the suns wins are from teams under .500.. suns glorified record earlier this seasons was thanks to a easy schedule with so many teams they played that are under .500. 3 Wins with teams over .500, 12 wins with teams under .500. finding every way possible to blame something huh? maybe suns can just improve the team roster, or just play better? ever thought of that? maybe the lakers have home court advantage early this season because during the spring staples center can get pretty busy with other events(since LA is the 3rd largest city in the United States) + clippers playing? ever thought of that? QUIT WHINING. LAKERS win either way , b2b or road. thats how CHAMPS do it - No excuses.

Don't troll. If you want to engage in discourse with us and tell us that the schedule isn't the reason why we lost, there are ways to do it other than "stop crying!" "quit whining!" "CHAMPS!", etc.

With that being said, I'm not locking this because I don't think his point is an invalid one. However, if you keep up the hostility, you won't last long here. --rsavaj

The schedule evens out later on anyways. So, I don't see the point why everyone on here throws a big fit that our schedule is unfair or the amount of B2B games we play.

To add a non moderatory response to this, the basic premise of his point is true: Lake show is better than us at every position except for PG. They're the defending champs. Our early season success deceived us and raised expectations to unreasonable heights, and this is the regression to the mean period. Doesn't mean we're a bad team, but we're closer to the 4-8 seed that most predicted than being "contenders".

Worded like that, this is actually a reasonable argument

When talking about us as contenders, there has to be a BIG intangible component because as you say, the Lakers are just BETTER than us. Even if we wise up against some teams and come out as a 3 seed, there is still NO WAY to overcome a team like the Lakers in 7 games unless
-we make a trade, or
-at least one of our players (cough sun tzu cough) starts playing not only at expected level, but above said level

So yeah, hard things to hear but right now there is one hell of a roadblock on the way to the WCF and ultimately the Finals.

Only certain people are having a cry over this loss. I'm not taking anything away from the Lakers because they played better than us nor am I using scheduling as an excuse for the loss. I'm just annoyed at the fact that we can't play when we're on a more level playing field. We would've played better and would've made the game more competitive.

Not gonna resort to conspiracy theories but playing the first 2 games against the Lakers both on the 2nd of B2B's really hurts our chances.

I remember a couple years back in 05-06 season the suns had beat the lakers 3 out of 4 games that season and all three wins were by double digits when the lakers were on the second night of a back to back. Then when playoff time came around everyone said the suns would win in 4 or 5 games. Well this was the 7 game series. Just pointing out back then all the lakers fans were "whining and complaining" about only playing us on the second night of back to backs.

yeah... i just wish there were no back to backs in the basketball season. that would end all conversations about this subject. and make the game more fun to watch as one team might not have an unfair advantage of 1-3 days rest. but i understand that there are 82 games to play and to get those done there would have to be back to backs unless they were to cut into the off-season.
