Of course. You're right. THAT SAID though, the superstar system will NEVER change so long as the current rules are in place. In that scenario, there is NO STAR who receives less preferential treatment than Steve Nash.

i thought it was funny, i read somewhere in a recap of the game that George Karl didn't think it was a foul. i was like... "DUUUUUUUUH, of course he didn't".

i wonder if gentry got fined for his roundabout way of complaining about the refs in the after game interviews. i think its (Please Use More Appropriate Word) that players and coaches get fined for "publicly criticizing the refs".

Nash needs to play both sides of the court to earn respect from the refs and even some Suns fans.

The problem is there shouldn't even be "star calls" to begin with! A foul should be a foul no matter who has the ball, if they are the home or away team and how much time is left on the clock.

I wouldn't think anyone here would argue with that sentiment but - we're talking about what is, not what should be. It goes back a long time, too - Wilt said that he was called for goaltending on plays that would a been a clean block for Russell, because Russell was well-known defensive ace.

So if we're saying that Nash doesn't get respect and he deserved a foul, then what would we be saying if that was Lou going to the basket and getting pushed by Nene?
Would we be crying for a foul for Lou or saying "well it was probably a foul but Lou is not a superstar so we shouldn't be expecting him to get that call"?

I know it is what it is and it may never change but still I can dream about a day when everyone in the NBA is equal.

It's funny cos the league feels the need to protect it's stars to keep fans interested and yet I think the majority of fans would much rather it was a level playing field for all.

the fact that star calls exists that mean steve should get them. if no other stars get those calls i have no issues. its a thing where if they can do it, why cant it?

right - rookies don't get calls, journeymen don't get the calls stars get, Amar'e had a rep for fouling so he got called quicker and more often than another big man would have, on and on

and on the other hand, Nash got a charge call tonight when he was still moving his feet adn should have been called for blocking - because Nash has a rep for drawing charges. There's a self-fulfilling prophecy aspect to some of it.
