Tom Leander jokes about crazed Serbian fans

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Sun Jan 3, 2010 8:41 am

It's nice that the Suns were down by almost 30 and Leander can crack jokes, I was pretty bored from watching the Grizzlies make the Suns their bitch on their own homecourt and I was about to change the channel when Leander said something along these lines about Dragic when he drove to the basket for that one hoop in the 4th quarter

"Dragic isn't intimidated by anything, when he was playing in Serbia the fans used to throw fire bombs in the crowd"

That was pretty much the highlight of the game incase anyone missed it

So does anyone know exactly what a "Fire Bomb" is?

in one of the pregames a couple games ago they were talking bout how basketball is very important in foreign countries and they basically showed one of dragic's games that broke out in a soccer riot manner.. so i am thinking the firebomb is literal for something like a glass bottle with a cloth on fire or something.. Tom made a joke but that stuff actually does happen! about 5 times worse than the pacers - pistons stuff

Wonder why that sort of stuff doesn't happen in the NBA...

I know the soccer matches in Europe are like that but I thought basketball over there was more toned down, I guess not

Well, Goran never played for a Serbian club, but some minor incidents might have happened when Olimpija was playing against Serbian Crvena zvezda and Partizan..
But that is not such a big deal here - the best cheering in the world comes from there.. It is a different mentalitly here.

I think Tom meant a "molotov cocktail" instead of a firebomb, since a fire bomb is when a plane basically drops a canister of lit excellerant on a location.

Not really common in basketball games as it is in football games but it does happen from time to time true...

Yeah, Niko Bellic is your average joe Slav http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caLfIsTsoRs

Fans light up the stands, but rarely actually throw flares on the court in basketball games. You'll only see that occasionally in intense derbies like Olympiakos vs Panathinaikos. Doubt Dragic got a flare thrown on the court in any of the games he played.

In soccer games it happens a lot more often since the stadium is much bigger.

I've had GTA 4 for my PS3 since it came out - do you know if there are plans for a new version anytime?

It'll prolly be a while before the new version comes out, took em like 5 years to go from San Andreas to GTA 4.

The graphics are much better in GTA 4, but San Andreas had a longer and more interesting storyline, and funner/more creative missions, which is why I liked San Andreas better.
