Re: GT: Bucks vs Suns (7:00 PM on FSN AZ)
Actually I think a big reason for the TO's is lack of movement. When Nash is penetrating the lane and then looping back out, no one is moving to create open passing lanes. Everbody is waiting for Nash to create the passing lanes and just spotting up somewhere and camping out waiting for Nash to spoon feed them. We have become to enamored with the jumpshot. Yes, we are a jumpshooting team first and foremost, but you still have to have movement off the ball to create open shots. If you don't move without the ball to free yourself for an "open" jumper we are making it easy for the defender to cover us. Nash is trying too hard by himself to make things happen. Last nite there were several instances where he penetrated to deep and no one moved to create a passing lane for him, everyone just stood where they were watching him, they led to TO's. Another thing that bothers me is that no one follows the shot, I mean I know we usually shoot a high percentage, but not every shot is going to go in, it would be nice if at least one or two of the five on the floor would follow the shot to the basket and at least try and get the rebound. It is getting pretty irritating watching time and time again three or four opposing players battling only themselves for a rebound of one our missed shots. I have a question....... who's man was it that was always wide open and alone for the three last nite ???

C'mon, really? Iverson?
He dominates the ball because he is one of the best gaurds in the league. Saying Nash dominates the ball too much is like saying Dwight Howard dominates the boards... it's their job to do that.
Nash is in charge of controlling the pace of the game offensively. It's important that he chooses how to distribute the ball, otherwise you'll have Richardson chucking up bricks whenever and Stoudemire trying to create for himself.... do you want that?

Wow, I didn't realize Nash had that turnover streak. Inexcusable if you ask me. If he is giving the ball up so much he needs to cool off for a couple games and stop pushing so much - put the ball in Goran or Grant's hands a little more to flow the passing game through them.
But Iverson??? I can't even begin to understand that comparison. Nash is the least selfish PG in the league right now, period. He would sooner get 10 assists than even 2 points. He'll do what he needs to in order to play team ball and to actually AVOID padding his stats. Iverson is the king of the ballhog, rhythm killer, etc.

Iverson? That's not a good comparison at all.
Has anybody read the chapter on Nash in Chris Ballard's new book "The Art of a Beautiful Game"? It's excellent. Heck, the whole book is excellent.

Barbosa isn't the same player, maybe the injury is still bothering him but the rest of the Suns bench consists of Lou, Dudley, Robin, Clark, Dragic, Collins and Griffin. None of those guys are good offensive players and if this was a half court team those guys would probably fit better but with the way the Suns play that's why they lost leads so fast. They probably have the least talented bench offensively anyway. They need another scorer besides Barbosa to bring in with the second unit otherwise this will continue.

Didn't the Lakers need a buzzer beater to beat the Bucks recently?

^ And some missed free throws, a missed charge call, and a missed travel call.
But that was the first game a couple weeks ago. The Lakers blew them out a few days ago.

I believe I read Nash HAS NEVER had a 5 game stretch (now 6) of 5+ TOs per.
Are you saying cut him some slack because he is old ???? He is good for 2 or 3 stinker passes a night... always has been. Lately, he has added to that... for whatever reasons. You had better hope father time is not one of them.
I am saying that I am not too worried. We lost two of those six games. One from Memphis, which we did not lose because of Nash's turnovers. We were out rebounded by a large margin, and just blown out. The Miami game was just a joke. Nash's turnovers didn't help, but neither did the hop-skip and jumps by the Miami team. I am saying that younger guys that take more risks are jumping ahead of our older and to a point lazier team. We aren't even talking about the great passes that are completed but not finished by our players.
Lately he seems to be trying to take over the games because no one else is stepping up. I think if everyone else steps up, we will see him force less and then have less turnovers.
It seems like no one else has mentioned my point that Nash is 3.9/11.3 TO/Asts but Amare is 2.8/1.0. Why? Who should we be more worried about? Amare is picking up too many offensive fouls as of late.
Nash's mins are up as well. Gentry could be asking him to do too much as of late.

No, all those assists are nice but those turnovers are unacceptable. Even for Nash a stretch of 5/6/7/6/6/7 turnovers is disgusting!!! It means teams are adjusting to his passing lanes. I'm sure Nash is watching the tapes and will get over this turnover slump.
The team could live with a 6+ turnover game from him once in awhile... but not for 6 straight games.
We saw that last year. The guy has the ball in his hands so much, he is bound to make mistakes. He is also facing guys twelve years younger than him. In games like tonight he is responsible for 52-63 points. I didn't like seeing him make three turnovers in a row, but I also didn't like seeing Amare with two offensive fouls, Frye shooting any outside shot, and JRich (sorry I don't really like JRich, so I left the sentence where it was.)
For the year Nash is averaging 3.9 turnovers on 11.3 assists. Now Amare has 2.8 turnovers on 1.0 assists. Which is worse?
How did Amare get into this conversation? Yes I know Nash is the team and his pros far outweigh the cons but this is something that he can remedy. It's really unNash like to have such a bad turnover stretch. Whatever the reason for the turnovers, the team cannot survive with this.
Having said that, I'm still very very happy with the way the Suns are playing right now. Even with losing those huge leads they are playing exceptional basketball. I find this board is overlooking the good things the Suns are doing. This is a special team we have, let's enjoy it.

I'd rather Amare have 6 TOs to 1 assist with Nash having 2 TOs with 7 assists, than Nash have 6 TOs with 10 assists while Amare has 2 TOs.
Nash's TOs always lead to fastbreak scoring for the other team, as our transition defense is the worst in NBA. In contrast, Amare's TO mostly result in dead ball so that we could stage regular half court defense.

Well not the way you wan't to finish games but atleast we came up with a win after blowing such a huge lead. I hope before the playoff's start though we learn how to hang to decent leads against avg teams and not play down to their lvl when we have a lead.
