A Conundrum: Spurs v. lakers

Post#1 » by JohnVancouver » Wed Jan 13, 2010 6:58 am

in grade school there was a quiz that went - "You're in a pool of vomit up to your neck and someone's throws a bucket of sh*t at you. Do you duck?"

That's my analogy for a Spurs -Lakers game. It's a pure no-win ... or so I thought. Turns out I hate the Lakers far more than I hate the Spurs.

How did you all deal with this game?

Nothing to really hate about the Spurs these days, guys like Bowen and Horry don't play for them anymore and Duncan is a class act plus most of their fans are decent.

Now the Lakers on the otherhand, I would say it's a large portion of the fan base mainly. There are some good Lakers fans out there, I have friends who are Lakers fans. Their a bit misguided about the NBA but overall good guys. As for the players I'm not a fan of Kobe ever since his whole 2003 trial and alot of things that happened after.

So I'm going with the Lakers

Honestly, I wish LA had won because now SA just jumped ahead of us in the rankings. Usually any Lakers loss is good for us but the outcome of this game had a negative effect on us.

If it was any other LA-SA game and I had to pick one, I would go with the spurs seeing as how I I can stomach them a lot more than the Lakers. :sour:

What do our wins (and losses, in the care of the Lakers) mean against these teams now? We beat the Spurs, but was that during their developing phase? Seems all of us are just holding home court in this little trio, but so far its just us who have lost to the Lakers. Keep in mind this was their first meeting and we've already played the Lakers 3 times.

I didn't see the game last night though.

Do we only play the Spurs three times this year? Am I seeing the schedule correctly?

That's money.

Don't watch it and never look at the boxscore. Pretend neither team exists, until our perennial first/second round playoff exit.

I was feeling the EXACT same thing when I was watching the game. But while I was watching the game, I realised the difference between the two teams. Both teams were the dynasty of the decade and have won their fair share of championships, but the Spurs have ALWAYS been a classy organization. Lakers on the other hand have some of the worst bandwagon fans and, it must be their close proximity to Hollywood, but they have never been a humble team.

I have huge much respect for Duncan and the way their FO takes care of business. To be a small market team to win 4 times in 10 years is pretty amazing and to put a team on the floor that is competing for a top spot in the West years in year out deserves nothing but respect.

Well said - and with Horry and Bowen gone it's hard to hate them the same way. plus, you have to love Pops. Just a really, really good guy and a shoo-in HOF coach.

I've followed Jackson for decades, since he reading Dave Debusschere's book when I was a kid, but I just find his whole schtick ... annoying as hell.

The Lakers are insufferable, even against the Spurs.

Lakers are 4-6 last ten games I think.
