The Nash Rule

Post#1 » by PHXfan85 » Fri Jan 15, 2010 1:18 am

Per Wiretap: http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/64038/20100114/hawks_now_use_nash_rule_against_all_pick_and_roll_players/
Woodson wouldn't divulge the specifics of it, but said that the team now uses the Nash rule against "anybody that's a pick-and-roll player."

What do you guys think the Nash rule is? I would guess the big man switch, but he said they've been doing it for 2-3 years and I've just started noticing the switch the season.

Isn't it what lots of teams are doing this season? Crowding the paint and sending two guys at Nash?

He doesn't play any defense, I bet the opposing coaches are always happy when their guards play against him

He plays defense. How did he happen to get that nasty gash last night if he wasn't making a defensive play? :/

Ya figure if he didn't play defense he'd just stay at the offensive end of the court and not even bother running to the defensive end...

Nash "tries" to play defense but he really sucks at it. Opposing guards salivate when they Steve Nash guarding them one on one. To his credit, he's really good at taking charges but most of the time he ends up getting burned by younger, athletic guards. He'll also get a steal every so often and once in a blue moon a block. :o

Back to the OT, it'll be interesting to identify what the "Nash Rule" is, even though we don't use the P&R much these days.

switch and send a soft dt from a long wing if the big man is slow. rotate late to fry who will invariably make a mistake if anyone is close enough to make him think about how everyone is staring at him and we're all goign to laugh at him
