Nev, thought the game thread was hilarious............ and I will chime in and say I hope Lopez does get the starting C spot. That would move Amare back to his natural and dominant PF spot, as well as provide a tougher more defensive minded starting line up. This also would serve Frye very well too, he will have more open looks at the three in the second unit against second unit opposition, as well as have an easier time gaurding a second unit player rather than a starter.

And consequently, having Frye space the floor with the 2nd unit would create more space inside for Barbosa to slash.. maybe get him back into rhythm.. Heck on b2b's, give Hill a rest and bring him off the bench too - That way we have 3 legitimate slasher/ scorers (Dragic, Barbosa, Hill) with space to operate as our key offensive big is out on the perimeter.. JDud would only add more perimeter D to the starting lineup..

I believe this will also help out Jrich in the first unit, somewhat, but he can't settle for the outside jumper, he needs to create his own offense and take some of the load off of Nash. He needs to take advantage of the huge screens he will have at his diposal with Stat and Lopez both on the floor, he should be able to get to the hole a lot easier, that is of course if he doesn't settle for the the outside shot...........

No Frye launching threes at the start can only mean more touches for JRich (or Amare), more touches means more consistency and less of a need to force things, which has been the problem with JRich.

It's actually quite good, it means that JRich will actually be given the opportunity to perform like the 2nd/ 3rd option that he should be, rather than having to fight with Frye over being the 3rd/ 4th..

I like your thinking. Quite in tune with mine. Never really thought about how jrich would be affected if Frye didn't start so this is definitely something interesting.

JRich is a shooter and if he doesn't get his shots, he's going to find shots even if there are none. By taking Frye out of the starting lineup, we get more scoring and spacing off the bench and JRich benefits by not having to worry about getting touches.

Never liked Frye starting.

Sorry Nev, didn't see that, but I do like your thinking......... and I would have to agree with you on Frye not starting as well. I think he is much more suited to coming off the bench than he is starting. Now, it would be good for him to come in off the bench with some mins with the starters as well, especially if we bring him in for Lopez because the defense will be used to looking for Lopez down low or around the paint and might leave Frye wide open for the three for a few minutes.......

So who do we start tonight?

I say RoLo makes sense, at least take a shot at keeping Gasol quiet to start off - though we definitely run the possibility of 2 fouls in the first 6 minutes

Then we'd just be where are now, with Frye basically a starter.

Even if it doesn't work, I think it's worth a shot. It's clear something's not right with our team right now so anything different should be considered.

I say

5 - Sideshow
4 - Stat
3 - Duds
2 - Dragic
1 - Nash

That's our best defensive lineup and its still strong offensively. Leaves nothing much on the bench - Hill isn't as effective coming in later, but he's not that effective right now anyway. No knock, just hard fact. he's a pro - he'll suck it up
Sweet Lou is our energy/hustle injection, Frye can come in for Stat and change our look - seriously, because we will have no inside game other than Robin. EC can replace Duds for size and keep defensive intensity up

neither JRich or barbs are shooting well or play great D. But, they're who we got.

Really, it seems to me if we play our best five as starters, our bench is weak.

I'd start Hill over Dragic, but I like both options. I wonder who we'll see this afternoon. 3 hours~ til.

Lopez could easily average 10+ ppg if he dunked the ball instead of trying to lay it in.

Haha. If Robin Lopez keeps this up, he could get his very own post-game interview. I imagine it would be something like this.
