I don't think the team relies on hot shooting. I would say the Suns main assets are energy, tenacity, and toughness. The Suns second unit reminds me somewhat of the last few Rocket teams that surprise everyone with blue collar players. Add a couple of veteran leaders where one is a two-time MVP, I think the Suns have a good chance to knock anyone out and give the Lakers a hard time.

At first I thought it was just the Lakers and Cavaliers truly contending for the title, but their recent slip ups have me second guessing. Yes Cleveland is still winning games but they don't seem unstoppable and last years season comes to mind.

You guys arent seeing the reason why playing a Parker-less Spurs would give the Suns a good chance to finally beat them. It's not that they're "declining" and we're "due", and all that other crap. It's simple;

Parker is the one that DESTROYS Phoenix. Duncan gets his, that's a given. If Parker isn't there to get to the hole at WILL, the Spurs will only have Ginobili to do that.

That is the main reason we'd have a chance.

I'd rather play the Lakers than the Spurs though. The Spurs own us mentally. The Lakers do no such thing.

Only Minnesota and Golden State allow more PPG and we're ranked last in steals.

lopez has a problem with post players that can also shoot the J. He hasnt learn how to defend them. I think dragic, duds, and lou play the same type of defense where they just smother the crap out of opposing defense. I think much of our group are new to the playoffs so the suns cant really depend on them too much. if the suns play with energy and with their heart out they may be able to advance to the second round. everyone has to be healthy too. I think Barbosa changes the dynamic of the team for the better and for worse. we will know in the coming weeks.

We're 12th in opponents' FG%, ahead of teams like San Antonio, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, Portland, Toronto, and Houston.

We give up more points per game because of our pace. We allow more FG attempts per game than anyone else.

The reason our defense looks like **** is because we're so bad at collecting defensive rebounding. We give up the second most offensive rebounds a game.

I don't care about any realistic insight, I think on paper we can beat Spurs this year too, but I can't forget this:

Pops has our number, knows how to stop Nash and is one of the best at X's and O's come playoff time.
Manu can't miss a shot against us, he always looks like Jordan against us in playoffs, Duncan will still be a force, and he will be raining 3's if needed :) ...lol even Roger effin Mason owned us...I can se Matt Bonner sending us home this year!

No Spurs, please, not until a few years

That's like driving 50 miles for a cheeseburger only they ran out of the cheese to put on the damn burger. Yes they still have Duncan and Ginobili, but Parker is hurt and if your team beats them in a 7 game series it might mend some old wounds, but what would be better for your team is knocking the Lakers out in 7 games, they are the real enemy of the Western Conference now, with the Dallas Mavericks poised to give them all they can handle, health providing. :D

I don't want no part wit the Spurs. They could have a bunch of d- leaguers and still beat us. They just cause a bad matchup when we play against them and somehow always get lucky and win.

With no back to back games and plenty of time to prepare/rest, the Suns will be more than competitive with any team in the playoffs this year including the Lakers.

The only thing hurting the Suns right now is Nash/Dragic/Barbosa are all hurting and will need a few games to get back into the mix effectively. Nash needs Dragic/Barbosa back very soon so the he can rest up for the playoff run.

The Suns defense has a chance to be even better in the playoffs as well.

Suns will/would sweep the Spurs 4-0 without Parker :D

This is my first post here on these forums...

Anyway, for the Suns to get the 3 seed, wouldn't they have to pass the Lakers? At this point, the best they can realistically get is the 4 seed.

no just 2 of jazz, mavs, denver

but that is ridiculously hard

so dropping to 6th seems like a better idea

It's not often he gets a new major minutes/big impact guy like Jefferson. They've been playing with the same core for like 5 years basically. They've always built around the core of Duncan, Ginosebili and Parker with role players and the major minute guys are normally guys who play defensive roles. Jefferson is a big time scorer who's defense is probably average at best, so I could see how Pops has had trouble integrating him into his system.

Yeah I am really hoping that barbosa helps us this season more than hurt us.
I think if he meshes well with what the suns are already doing, we could have a really tough team

Return to Phoenix Suns
