Got it mixed up with his field goal attempts, but that's even better

He's not asking for Max. He wants 14M a yr for 4 yrs, not 2, which is what the front office wants. On top of the 17M option he has. FO needs to wake the **** up and give it to him.

$14m for 4 is reasonable. I would've extended him already. Now, with his strong play, he's in a position to ask for more.

Yes... I'd think, from Amare's camp, the Suns denied a very reasonable request and basically opened the door for better offers.

Furthermore, Stat would have been easy to trade with that price tag. These guys want him to walk. Its a win win for Knobert.

The situation is bad enough for me to reconsider the JJ/Z offer. I was confident Kerr would be able to extend Amare before the seasons end but now that Amare is shelving the negotiations until the season ends, it seems unlikely. I think Amare's camp know they offered a more than reasonable offer and with our FO denying it, I can't see why Amare would do as any favors (through S&T) or give us any "home town" discounts when the open market (championship potential, more money) is right there.

I don't think they are planning on him to walk, but figure on a S&T for him since it is unlikely no team will be foolish enough use up most of their cap space for a max contract on Amare. Heat won't do it since they gotta sign Wade and a half dozen others. Knicks will bulk because they will need more pieces and probably would require a S&T with the Suns to conserve cap space.

I don't think we're even talking max money here. Even if Amare asks for $16m-$17m, which is still at least $3m less than the max, it's still at least $2m more than what we are willing to pay. So it's not like the teams out there have to fork out a max contract to get Amare. They just have to outbid the other teams and even then I doubt any team would be foolish enough to talk max deals just to get Amare. I don't think Amare would be hard to get in the open market but it will be for us now that we've dug this hole for ourselves.

I just have this weird feeling that Amare saying he doesnt even want to talk about an extension till after the season is over = him leaving as a FA. :(

Amare is worth the max. Just give him a reasonable offer already.

Yeah Suns have been stupid...this isn't a negotiation to buy a bank chain Sarver there are feelings at stake. Shoulda said yes to his Gasol request but now just give him whatever he asks for and do it ASAP

I'm against a Gasol level contract but anything less than that I'm fine with. $14m was more than reasonable, $15m is reasonable, $16m is OK.

I'm shocked to see how badly our FO has handled his situation. But the only explanation would be if we had decided to S&T Amare from the beginning and low-balling him would make it look like at least we made an "effort."

Id be ok if the suns gave him 4 yrs @ 14mil. Hes definately worth that.

I just wish we didnt have such as cheapass whackass penny pinching owner like Sarver

If we had a bozo like Cuban for an owner, we wouldnt even be having the "extend amare" discussion, it would be DONE

everybody would be "ok" with signing a Bosh, a JoeJohnson, a Wade for 4yr @ 14 mil, I guess.
