Amare's Agent Calls Out ESPN as Liars (UPDATE)

Post#1 » by Mr. Sun » Sat May 22, 2010 4:03 am

Update: Amare's manager, Travis King, told Gambo and Ash that the story did not come from Amare or anyone inside of Amare's camp. Said that Amare loves Phoenix, his teammates, and being a Sun. King said that the Chad Ford story did not represent Amare's feelings. (I know this will disappoint a few forum regulars who have convinced themselves Amare wants to sign somewhere else).

Amare's business agent Travis King calls the ESPN rumor "not true." Also says he will be on Gambo & Ash to "squashin the [ESPN] rumors" http://twitter.com/loyaloneforlife

Also, Gambo reporting he spoke with the "Amare camp today and they vehemently deny the Chad Ford column." http://twitter.com/gambo620

They don't call him Chad Fraud for nothing

I can't believe his manager denied that story. Shocking!

Yeah, especially if Amare really feels "disrespected" and desires to move on, otherwise there is no purpose for Amare to have his agent quickly deny a truthful rumor.

You deny it because it causes a distraction to your team during the most important time of the season. His manager said it's 50/50 that he stays so who knows what's true.

It's no more a distraction then the rumor itself. I don't know about the 50/50 since Kerr has cleared the air over whether the Suns are willing to resign him, so there is no question mark on the Suns part.

Until Amare or his agent says he wants to move on I see zero evidence he is going anywhere since all he talks about is extension talks with the Suns after the playoffs. If he goes to another team it won't be because he wants to, but because he and the Suns failed to come to an agreement.

and the predictable Mr Sun weighs in.... clinging to whatever hope he can.

Refusing to accept Amare's own prediction of 50/50... accepting Kerrs diplomatic spin... ignoring the contact impasse of recent... embracing the warm fuzzy ' Oh, we'll just wait until after the post season to resign, so our contract negotiations are not a distraction'

Yeah right... a distraction ? How negative are these talks going to be ? How hard is it to NOT be a distraction when coming to a positive agreement ? The only agreement they have come to so far is to wait and see if Amare gets a better offer than what the Suns were willing to tender. 'But its not about the Money'.... a great line coming from a front office who's entire personnel scheme tightropes on the bottom line.

Mr Sun is experiencing the cloud cover of denial.

What contract impasse? That is extremely rare to make a contract offer that is accepted first time around. All teams and players either lowball or highball each other back and forth until an agreement is reached or one side gives up.

Why did he say it is 50/50 he will stay? Because like his agent said, “We’ve exchanged ideas. The ball is in their court." They aren't sure if Suns want to spend the $$$, not the other way around. Since Kerr has said the Suns will spend the $$$ the odds are much better than 50/50 now.

And what is your evidence Amare has given up without an attempt to resign? hmmmmm? You have none. zip. zero. On the other hand we have Amare talking about entering extensions talks after the season, not running away.

Does this assure Amare will resign? No, it just means there is no evidence that says either he or the Suns want a divorce.

Are you guys that dumb?!! 50/50 means he wants to play the fence. He wants the Suns to think that they don't have the upper hand, meaning that he will leave if he isn't happy with their offer, even if he has to take a little less with another team. " I will take the same money from Miami, because I like Fla." He wants to let the other teams know, he won't walk to them and lose money by not doing a sign and trade. "Nah, I like it here in Phoenix, if I am taking the same money, I'd rather stay here and win." Thus other teams will offer MORE than Phoenix, not LESS or EQUAL.

Amare coming out saying he isn't coming back to Phoenix is financial suicide. Other teams are putting that out there to save money! Why would he take away his leverage. Right now he has several girls to choose from. If you were a high school athlete trying to cash in under the table, would you say, "nah, I am coming to you. Forget USC, Mich, OSU etc.....Now what are you going to give me for signing?"

I think he might wind up staying.
