What contract impasse? That is extremely rare to make a contract offer that is accepted first time around. All teams and players either lowball or highball each other back and forth until an agreement is reached or one side gives up.
Why did he say it is 50/50 he will stay? Because like his agent said, “We’ve exchanged ideas. The ball is in their court." They aren't sure if Suns want to spend the $$$, not the other way around. Since Kerr has said the Suns will spend the $$$ the odds are much better than 50/50 now.
And what is your evidence Amare has given up without an attempt to resign? hmmmmm? You have none. zip. zero. On the other hand we have Amare talking about entering extensions talks after the season, not running away.
Does this assure Amare will resign? No, it just means there is no evidence that says either he or the Suns want a divorce.
