What was Frye avging as a starter? Yea Frye got 3 million when he did nothing, but he is important to our team. Why did we sweep the Spurs???? How did we fare against LAL when Frye started playing??

When Sarver spends money you guys aren't happy. When he doesn't spend money, you guys aren't happy. Fans are always going to complain about something, no matter what.

Right now we are looking financially sound. Who is going to be the most expensive guy on our roster in 2 years? 29 yr old Frye for 6 million at 3 years, boo hoo hoo....Gimme a break.

Nice to see that others have noticed the guy did embarrass Stat as far as rebounding went, and as has been noted he is an effective defender against 4s.

It could have been far worse.

AHHAHAHAHA Frye tradeable at 6M$ per season you are too funny.

The guy will be one of the worst contracts in 2 years when his contract is 3yrs/23M$.

Whoopdedooo he go some more rebounds in a few games than Amare. He **** MISSED 19 STRAIGHT SHOTS IN THE WCF. He single-handily lost us at least 2 games and he let Artest grab an offensive rebound to win the game.
He can't throw the ball in the ocean when on the road. He is soft as pie, he has no moves other than catch and shoot. He will be 33 years old when the contract ends.

Don't lie to support your complaint or be an informed fan. Frye just turned 27 in May!! He will play the entire season at 31, for his final year of the contract!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 31!!!!!!!!!!

Overpaying, but not grossly overpaying. I would've been fine if they let him walk. Frye does only 1 thing well at the NBA level, and he never creates shots for himself or others. Guys like that are ALWAYS replaceable.

Word. Regular season is the time to call everyone cheap, and the offseason is the time to call them idiots who overspend.

Again, another incorrect statement about Frye. When Nash PnR with Frye at the 3 pt line and Frye's man is afraid to move, like a deer in headlights, thus giving Nash a free run to the hoop, you don't think that isn't creating a shot? AND OH BOY!!! What happens when a perimeter defender runs out to Nash so he can take away that drive, thus allowing Nash to pass to a wide open JRich or Dudley....................Uh, that all started because of Frye "only" being able to shoot 3's.

Wake up dude and watch the game.

For once, I can't agree with you on this. I agree that if we didn't pay him MLE money, someone else would have but you have to look at the market. Right now it's a buyer's market and almost every FA will be overpaid and we shouldn't have paid the inflated market price just to keep Frye. I don't think he brings enough consistency to warrant $6m a year.

I don't think he's untradeable like MJJ said, but I think he'll definitely make a top 10 overpaid list and it could be hard to trade him.

--- I'm just trying to put a positive spin on this

but all I really meant was that while we overpaid by about $1-$2mil per, I think it could have been a lot worse, i.e. Gooden.

Yea Sarver is stupid.

He drafted a 20 year old rookie at 46 and this rookie had better numbers than his teammate who went #3. He signed a vet PF just in case that rookie isn't ready to replace Lou and be a serviceable back up to Frye. If the rookie developes a J, he can become a good PF for the Suns in the future at 23......just when that option for the vet runs out.

He has JRich 14 million coming off of the books in 2011, LB and Nash coming off the books the next year. He has a lot of young promising players who, if they don't pan out, along with a load of cash and draft picks that NOW belong to us.

Can we compete with Frye at the 4 and Lopez running the PnR with Nash? Maybe, maybe not. I don't have a problem betting on that more than I would on Amare for a full max guaranteed contract without incentives.

Lopez looked damn good putting up 20 against Bynum and Gasol in the WCF!!! Coming off of a back injury and as a second year player!!!

We are soooooo far away from being horrbile, especially if everyone stays out East. Kobe isn't getting any younger.

summing up -

Frye is more well-rounded than a lot of people here give him credit for. On the downside he is very streaky and doesn't add a lot when cold ... all in all, this won't even be in the conversation about bad contracts when this summer is reviewed.

Amar'e is going to get LeBron/Kobe money form someone and I'm glad it's not us - I love the guy but despite what diehard capitalists say, the market can be wrong when it comes establishing value.
He's Connie H, not Kareem.

Applause, foot stomping, whistles.

These are very strange times ... i think we will see some very ugly mistakes that will put the Frye deal in perspective

bear in mind we have added some bangers to surround Frye with

Quite honestly, I'd rather have Gooden.

I hope you realise now that Amare is basically gone, we have no inside presence, outside of the garbage Lopez buckets and occasional PnR's. Guys aren't going to need to put to double on an inside presence like they had to with Amare and they are going to stick on our 3PT shooters like glue. Guarantee Frye won't see nearly as much daylight as he used to without Amare drawing the help defenders. He's going to be shooting more contested 3's than ever. Unless Frye somehow develops a way to create his own shot(ie an off the dribble move) or starts posting up, he's not going to be shooting open 3's like he use to.

Do you actually know how our offense works :-? We iso Amare a few times a game and teams cheat to help, but the PnR gets us our shots.

If Amare created all of these "open shooters,' what's up with his assists number :-?

Just stating you'd rather have Gooden is a huge  . Do you want to change our offense? Come on Lil'.

That's all fine and dandy...if it were guaranteed that Sarver would actually spend the money on an elite free agent in 2011 or 2012.

On top of that, if the opposing team is not double teaming in the paint, the P&R works much better, and IF we stay with only Warrick, he is a good finisher and very athletic and can get to the rim on his own. If Clark shows the improvement in his potential ball handling skills the paint will be open to dribble drives from the perimeter, also don't underestimate Lopez's ability to improve his presence in the paint, he has tremendous size and agility, with Frye still out beyond the arc keeping defenses honest we can still be effective. A lot of if's I know, but it is possible ......
