Speed and energy... There's times when he'll be half way down the court while everyone is still waiting for the rebound. ...He's a great slasher and tries on defense...He makes very bad decisions when the ball is in his hands for a long period of time... In no way a point guard yet undersized for the shooting guard position... Not a shooter more of a (streaky)scorer... Not the smartest bball IQ but makes up for it in ways with his heart... He has his negatives but overall good player and good teamate.

Positives: Lightning quick, and can outrun anyone on the break. Very good shot when wide open, and can pull up off the dribble. Good free throw shooter. Gets steals by picking passes off the passing lanes. Good 1 on 1 player against slower defenders. Good guy.
Negatives: Weak. Doesnt finish strong at the hoop when contested. Shot selection is pretty bad. Takes bad shots sometimes, and doesnt pass the ball well. Turnover prone, and makes bad mistakes. On the ball defense sucks for a guy with his quickness/length, and gets overpowered by bigger players. Cant play point guard. Good guy.

Re: What should we expect from Barbosa?
Offensively he doesn't have a mid range game at all. He either spots up for a 3 or drives to the basket with his head down usually at all times.
The biggest negative he has is he can be a black hole on offense and he can drive to the basket get in the air and try to pass out and turn the ball over. Also a microcosm of the frustration Suns fans had with him last year was at the 2:40 mark of Game 6 against the Lakers when out of a timeout he spotted up 5 feet behind the 3 point line 5 seconds into the shot clock trying to nail a 3. Pretty sure he was gone after that shot.
He's a really nice guy, great teammate, and can be a volume scorer at times. He'd be great if Derozan can penetrate and kick to barbosa spotting up.
His form on his shot is kinda awkward he kinda pushes the ball but it's effective. He doesn't give you much besides offense sorta tries on defense but eh he is what he is.
He was bad last year but so was Turkoglu so we can't judge based on last year's performances on either player

Re: What should we expect from Barbosa?
All heart!! He will give you everything he has as a player and a person. He is a terrific open-court player and can finish the break with either hand but he is best finishing on the left. He is a great catch and shoot 3 point shooter, but loses focus on his mid-range game when penetrating and often goes right to the hoop, which either lends itself to spectacular layups or ugly shot selection/ blocks. His defense is still based more on athleticism than footowork and body placement. He has tremendous length on his arms which allow him to bother dribblers at the top of the key occasionally, but he is most deadly on defense picking off passes made on the perimeter.
To give you an idea TOR fans, he will be sorely missed as a fantastic role-playing teamate in PHX. He had one of the longest tenures in PHX history with the club, and will be remembered for his strong break-out year as sixth man of the year. He is incredibly fast end-to-end and leaks out effectively as well. Good luck with him, you guys will probably love him, as we have.

Re: What should we expect from Barbosa?
I'm a barbosa hater and have been for sometime now so take this for what it's worth. My nickname for him is black hole sun
Barbs can be an explosive scorer any time he steps on the floor, for the most part there isn't a guy in the league who can stay in front of him. He's very slinky around the basket once he gets his full head of steam going. He has added a little pull up mid range jumper in the last few years that is decently effective where as before it was either a 3pt attempt or layup.
Defensivley barbosa is probably below average. For a guy that is so fast and has such a big wingspan it's a wonder how he let's so many guys blow buy him. He gambles in passing lanes which will lead to the ocassional steal but for the most part gets him out of position. What I do like about him is that he will never give up on a play and it's not unordinary to see him going up for a blocked shot on a defensive fast break. Another thing I like is that he isn't afraid to give a hard foul every now and again.
Barbosa has a pretty poor basketball IQ overall. It's probably his worst attribute. Whether he's driving with his head down or jumping for a layup figuring out he should pass in mid air and blindly throwing the ball to the vacinity of the nearest suns player. It's not uncommon for him to dribble off 8 seconds of shot clock at the top of the key trying to find a lane to drive only resulting in him picking up his dribble and having to reset again.
He's a good guy with a great big heart but his emotional side can be his downfall. I'm actually quite interested to see how he's going to recover from this trade as he once cried from an April fools joke of fellow suns tell g him he had been traded. The good news is he's know this was comming for quite some time. When his mother died it took him a long long time to get back into his old self and some would even say he has never been the same since then.
All in all I think you will lime barbosa as a player and a person as long as you know that he is a scorer 1st and not to expect much more than that.

I'm sad to see him go. Can't ask for a better scoring option off the bench.

Inconsistency. One minute, he shoots lights out and is unstoppable on fast breaks... Next minute he's recklessly driving to the hoop, ignoring open men.
LB was a tease. He had a good contract though.

I think you'll hear a lot of negative on Barbs because of last season and part of the previous. But if you can get him into a good role, namely 6th man with ample playing time, he is one of the greatest offensive sparks in this league.

Re: What should we expect from Barbosa?
Hopefully for him the Raps will play at a higher pace this year, he tends to get lost in half-court sets.
Good 3 point shooter and slasher, fast, dangerous scorer in the open court, very nice guy. Negatives are his low bb-iq, weak defense and passing game, and tendency to over-dribble.

he'll kind of be like hedo in a way
when he's on HE'S ON! but when he's off, he'll annoy the Sh*t out of you
but none the less, he's a great person, with more playing time in toronto you'll see more his positives then his negatives

Gambo said LB's agent told him he'd be starting. When healthy he's great off the bench but not a traditional starting PG or SG.

You should expect laziness, complacency, a lack of defense, a lot of stupid shots/decisions, and a giant disappearing act if you guys somehow make the playoffs this year.
