good read on the slim pickens left in free agency

That list has nothing but total garbage players on it. Only player that could be useful to the Suns could be Joe Smith.

Or Lou, if you want a potential 12th guy who wont have an ego if he rides the bench. Also if the situation comes up he would already know the system and mesh with the existing players, not to mention he he is actually useful. Not ideal at Pf/C but he did do it last year and the one before. Your right, that list is pure garbage, so go get Lou, bring him home, and let him continue to learn and progress under our coaches. He seemed to be improving under our current coaches. You have to remember, we are looking for a cheap 12th or 13th guy, there are no complete game changers left at our price. Lou plays hard, is somewhat smart, and is a good team guy, he will do whatever you ask, with absolute vigor.

yeah he would be great but we have an incredibly stupid owner and front office just based on the horrific signings they did this summer, so making a smart signing is not something that we can expect. They are probably still searching for more small forwards with no rebounding or defense ability so they can hook them up with a rich contract that shoudl hurt the franchise for years.

Here is attempt number 2.

Trade machine has it as an equal trade. I try my best not to do "nba 2k trades."

Trade ID #5659799

Suns get Boris/Doris back. Doesn't help us a great deal on the rebounding piece, but gives us some low post scoring. With this trade I think we are the best passing team in the league. J.R. Smith is a head-case, but I still think he has potential, and we won't lose any scoring lost from J-Rich. We do find a couple more minutes for Dudley. I could see Diaw having good chemistry with Childress, and Warrick alla Marion.

Nash/Dragic
Childress/J.R.Smith/Dudley
Hedo/Hill/Dudley
Diaw/Warrick/Frye
Lopez/Frye/Diaw

Nuggets: Why? They get a more consistent 3rd option in J-Rich, which will give George Karl less ulcers....K-Mart is injured....again, and the feeling here in Denver is that he is trade fodder. This gives them a back up center, and 6 extra fouls.

Bobcats: Again, why? Diaw isn't going to get anywhere near the minutes that he once was. They get a very good defender in Martin, that will be available to help them push into the playoffs, and is an expiring. They rid themselves of Diop, who they do not use, and have on contract for two more years. Clark is a nice pickup as well, he may get a few more minutes than he would in Phoenix.

Thoughts?

Interesting....

seems to benefit all parties, as long as we can trade or buy out Smith. No way that nut and his nut-tree father join up.

I'd bet Denver would want Nzar instead of Diop.

This is the type of mid season deal that can happen. Teams will see how all of the new pickups are effecting the playing time... and realize they have guys who are expendable. There are a lot of new faces across the league. I'd bet if JRich is dealt, it will be then.

In the mean time, we need a center.

I remain curious about Randolph Morris. :dontknow:

What's the deal with Earl Clark? What's been holding him back from getting some solid minutes?

Splitting Richardsons salary in half is probably not the best way to maximize his expiring's value as it will limit the quality of players coming back. From our perspective, I do not want the trade above. Not that interested in JR Smith for this team, and I think we can leave Diaw out there. I did love his passing, scoring and flair, but I think if we have a $14 million expiring, it will be best to explore larger stars out there that may come along between now and Feb, before dropping back and punting with a deal like this. I suspect there will be multiple deals of this variety that are more lateral moves than steps forward as we approach February, if we make it that long. Also for me personally, if the deals look like this one in February I may risk it, keep JRICH and try to re-sign him to $8 mil per over another 3-4 years.

Barbosa for Diaw was perfect until we traded for Turk. Nash/Diaw expire together and we start fresh.

-Lack of available playing time since we had Hill, Dudley, Lou, and Amare last year.
-Needs to learn how to play both the 3 and 4 since he has no clear position.
-Hasn't quite grasped the NBA game yet.

I still have hope for him. The talent's definitely there but the lightbulb hasn't switched on yet.

Kenyon Martin had knee surgery this offseason and is not expected to be ready until the next calendar year.

If that wasn't the case, I would much rather have Kenyon's 10/10 defensive game than Doris back. Remove all that clutter and just do JRich/Clark for Martin/Affalo. Gives Denver a heap of expiring salary at the end of the season or trade deadline if they have to deal Melo.

Nash/Dragic/Janning
Hill/JChill/Affalo
Turk/Duds
Martin/Warrick/Lawal
Lopez/Frye/Louuuu

That's a vicious defensive frontline with 3 perimeter playmakers, and a retardedly deep bench.
