I am sorry but you won't ;)

You are ready to deal Nash for Gortat+Nelson, so it would mean that you would add Richardson for Crawford, which doesn't change a lot for ATL and even doesn't help (both expiring asking maybe too much to be kept next summer after extending Horford, at least without paying Tax, something owners doesn't want),
and turn Gortat+Nelson for Smith+Bibby, something ATL would never do.

The upgrade from Bibby to Nelson is not worth loosing Smith for Gortat. Sorry.

atlanda upgrade 3 position and get 2-3 starting players. "nelson,j-rich,jojo,horford,gortat" i believe that roster much better than what you have now.
first of all admit that you have to change something. last year playoffs is a disaster for atlanta and after that you did nothing, congratulations :)

First of all, where did you see me saying we don't need to change something ?
Then, we are not upgrading 3 positions like you said : you change Williams for Johnson at SF, something we can already do, insert Richardson like we can insert Crawford.
Horford/Gortat better than Smith/Horford ? please, we have two solutions:
- we keep both and get a good C coming from the bench and sharing time (16" at C with Horford at PF, and same with Smith at PF, leaving only 16" of undersized Smith/Horford
- we trade one of them, for a better C, but certainly not for Gortat.

That's leave Nelson over Bibby, 1 upgrade, and not 3 like you're saying.

I prefer trading before training camp than trading during the regular season, but if there was one moment we have better to do it, it would be now, because we have a new coach that will play totally different offense, and a coach who looks more respected by players.
We need also to try to improve while having this stupid Johnson's contract on the first minute of Free Agency, which won't help since owners still don't want to pay Luxury tax, so we can't gamble on a trade like that.

It's certainly not the moment to loose one of the two more effective players we have, gamble on Gortat, or think that Nelson can form a winning back-court with Richardson (Richardson was on a loosing team with Felton or others, and only on winning team when paired with Davis, or better with Nash).
And even if Bibby looked old last year, the team was most of the time better with him on the floor than on the bench. His personal stats decreased, but not the impact of his presence. At this price, he's still a good fit, but I agree he can easily be upgraded.
Last year, we were killed by Woodson giving all the power to Joe and Crawford, playing ISO all the time, and by a switching defense leading to make Bibby even older.
