So I was thinking about the whole Amar'e/knicks/Carmelo thing last night and how much it's going to suck when they are beasting it over in NY while we are struggling to stay at .500. It's going to probably hurt watching Amar'e win 60 games over there and I was thinking I'll probably be really pissed every time they win again. But then I realized that I can't be pissed at Amar'e about this.

The New York Knicks are a team that has shown they want to win an NBA championship and they are going to do what it takes to get there. Amar'e stoudemire recognized that and went to them and is now playing like the animal we all know he can play like. The Knicks aren't a team that is going after guys like Hedo. They're going after guys like Amar'e, LeBron, Carmelo, CP3 etc...

Unfortunately we've dug ourselves into a hole for a while now and hoepfully we can try to start building our own dynasty in five or so years.

The Knickerbockers will be fun to watch with Carmelo, but they are going to have the exact same problem our SSOL squads had. Exact same.

Great, you have Melo and STAT. You're going to score a lot... defense, what? Huh?

I think it will be stupid to get Melo right now. They will have to give up multiple players that have brought them so much success. On top of that, they will find themselves in a similar situation as Miami, with no idea if it can work. The only bright spot NY would have is if Felton stays and can continue to do what he has done.

As far as D'Antoni is concerned, he is one of the worst in game adjusting coaches I have ever seen. So even though they are doing well right now, there is no way they beat any of the elite teams over a seven game series.

You're right, they definitely won't beat any of the elite teams over a 7 game series, and they're record makes them look much better than they are right now, they have hardly played anybody. It will all depend on what they have to give up to get Melo. I think the biggest role player they need to keep is Gallinari. They could probably swing a deal involving Anthony Randolph based on the fact that he has so much potential.

They've got good role players in Chandler, Douglas, and Fields. If they grab Melo, other second tier players will be very attracted to come play with them too.

This is received wisdom, often repeated and never backed up with an actual quote from a surgeon. There were, however, several knowledgeable types quoted on this board as saying that the nature of Amar'e's knee problems was such that he is unlikely to need further surgery.

Now, that doesn't explain why the team was so nervous about his knees but I still have never seen any medical opinion stating that he would defiantly need further surgery

Amare and the Knicks have had a great 3 week run. Will it keep going?

Right now, the decision to let Amare go looks bad. But what happens if Amare blows out a knee? What happens when the lockout occurs at the end of the seasons and there are major contract changes?

We knew that letting Amare go would sting badly this year...but it could still be the right decision in 2-3 years.

It's too early to tell.

I'd honestly rather amare and his knees, plus another surgery that isn't even for certain than what we signed. We aren't going to be a serious team for awhile now.
Steve Nash is the point guard jason kidd wishes he was.
