So Disappointing

Post#1 » by SunsWinSunsWin » Thu Jan 6, 2011 8:44 pm

Suns fan for 20+ years and never have I been so down on this team.

The entire front office is so inept I don't even want to think about it. It just makes me sick. It all starts with Robert Sarver who I feel has and will continue to ruin this franchise. He will never sell the team unless he makes a profit off the sale which won't happen anytime soon.

Look....Amare pissed all of us off with his lack of defensive intensity and rebounding. However the guy was a first team all NBA player, All-Star Starter, and for the 2nd half of the 09 - 10 season, a MVP candidate. We take the Lakers to 6 games in the Western Finals and then gut the team? So upsetting.

Amare is flourishing in NY and I'm happy for him. It makes Sarver look so bad. I know Sarver made him an offer but come on, would someone of Amare's caliber take a partially non-guaranteed contract? No way in hell. Sarver knew Amare would walk so he tried to make himself look good by extending that joke of an offer.

You then bring in a million wing players and have no plans for a replacement at the PF position. Gentry is left trying to experiment all year with different lineups which haven't worked at all.

Lopez and Dragic have severely regressed. Lopez more so. I have no faith this guy will ever be a legit center in this league. The guy CANNOT rebound the ball if his life depended on it. He brings the ball down everytime he gets it and can't finish a play. He's weak and plays with no intensity. Dragic will improve but is not the answer to replace Nash.

I like Gentry...I really do. I think he's a good coach who was dealt with a combination of players who won't hustle for him. Look, Grant plays with effort and desire every game. He takes too many shots but I'll live with that. The one and only thing that Gentry is doing wrong is not playing Childress. Warrick is awful. Completely one dimensional. Childress is a very good all around player who can significantly help with our defensive rebounding problems. Warrick needs to be benched and Childress needs more time immediately.

Look...Suns have made 2...count them...2 good moves this season. One was bringing in Gortat. I love Gortat. He is the ONLY player on this team who attempts to block out on each possession. THE ONLY PLAYER! He called the team out again last night for not blocking out, thus getting killed on the glass. Thank you Gortat for finally speaking the truth and showing how it needs to be done.

The other good move was resigning Dudley. Dudley is our MVP this year and in my opinion, untouchable. He brings too much to this team and we got him locked up for years at low cost. These are the only two good moves this team has made in the last year.

Trading Nash? I'm on the fence about this. I love Nash and without him we are a bottom 3 team in the NBA, no doubt. I would only trade him for a legit young star player. Draft picks, exprirings, and other junk is not going to cut it.

Carter hasn't been great but has played good enough. He needs to drive to the basket more since he can't be stopped but I'm not disappointed with him. He's gone after this year anyways.

Look...the problem is this...Other than Childress, Dudley, and Gortat, this team has ZERO future. Dragic might be able to redeem himself. Pietrus has played well but I don't know how long this will last. The rest of the team is expendable. Warrick was a terrible signing. Childress getting DNPs is unacceptable. Lopez needs to go back to grade school with his garbage play.

Gentry should stay. He should be dealt a fair hand with players who will block out and play with passion and heart. I blame Sarver for this mess. Babby and Blanks are just yes men to Sarver but I fear the worst with them as well. We are now a bottom feeder in this league. Hopefully in the next couple years we can rebound with some good play and transactions but no big time free agent will sign here with Sarver running the show.

Just another rant, I know....But I've seen every Suns game for more than 2 decades. I know what I'm talking about. This team has hit rock bottom. Until they start bringing (or playing) players who are willing to block out and rotate to open shooters with 100% effort all the time...this team will never succeed. I hope Amare comes in tomorrow and crushes us with a 40pt 15reb game to just rub it in Sarver's miserable face. These are dark times for Phoenix....

I agree with EVERYTHING you just said!!!!!! I was just to lazy to type it all out!

1. Lopez is garbage....the dude is completely immobile. Ya he is injured so what.He will never be a dominant center. And if he is consistently injured at age 22, well....... his future does not look so bright.

2. I like dragic no doubt but,.......if you think he can take the suns to the playoffs when Nash is gone....Then you are a dumbass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. Gortat is the ****.....10 times better the Robin. The guy BOXES OUT! Something only hill and dudley do on this squad. Common guys that's high school fundamentals.

I kinda wanna tank so we can net a top 3 draft pick and get some young star potential. Cause right now we aint lookin so hot.

We are still just a shrewd trade away from redemption. So far Blanks is 1 for 1 in my book. Babby... eh... face it... Warrick was part of his deal to be here. So be it. He sure is not the one to blame for losses. He's not even playing. I like Childress and feel he is a good part of the not so dismal future. W/o Hedu, we dont get Gortat.... so Babby is >.500. I happen to think that this may be a better Front Office than what you think. Was not impressed by Kerr-plunk, D'Ant, and really, Colonjello. and I like the fact that Sarver went out of the box to get B+B. All those 'basketball minds' didnt do a whole lot for him. At least now the finances are under control. No excuses for him to meddle.

Wait this trade period out, then gather your storm clouds. I'm not sure what you were expecting this yr, but perhaps you set the bar too high.

Well i wasn't expecting 5 games under .500 which hasn't happen since starbury. I still have hope that your right and in a week or two the team will get chemistry and turn it around. but if that doesn't happen and we do the unthinkable and trade nash. We are going to be F'd in the A.

This was supposed to be a down year for the Suns, although I hate watching it, it is best for our future that we dont give a silly knee jerk reaction and go get someone who is both expensive and wont help. It sucks that Amare is beasting, but that still isnt a good reason go give a 100 million dollar contract, THAT CANT BE INSURED WITH THE LEAGUE, for 5 years to a guy who by all acounts could be a ticking injury time bomb. The knicks franchise can afford crap like that.. the Suns orginazation cant carry that burden. We dont crap money like they do. Like it or not, it still gives this team stability going ahead. We have the start of a core, and the money and draft picks to try to get the rest in do time. I find it hard to be patient, watching these crap games, but I think we will be better with the line up we have with more time, and will be in a posistion to make it better with the assets we have moving forward.

Dont get me wrong.... I am disappointed in cretain players for not playing up to thier potential to this point. If Dragic, Fry, and Lopez were playing the way we all thought they would this year, we would be at or above .500 on the year, and all of our fans would not be jumping off buildings, and trying to fire or trade everyone from the front office to the only star we have left (Nash). Dudley should be starting... he is the only one who plays with focus and fire lately.

Our prospects:
Goran Dragic (who can be something if he has the confidence, which he doesn't have right now)
Robin Lopez (I blame the FO for giving him too many expectations which disrupted the way he played the game.)
Jared Dudley (who's been beasting lately, though not all-star material)

So as you can see here, we have not-extremely-promising prospects with limited upsides. I don't call that rebuild. No I don't.

As for the thread, I pretty much agree with everything he/she said. Shame Facebook Suns fans never realized that.
Bottom line is, JChill should be playing more than Warrick and Pietrus combined.

I too trust the front office to right the ship. They seem to know what they are doing, and have been making good basketball decisions since they took control of the team. As much as I like Hill, I dont think he will be with us next year because Chilldress is waiting in the wings.

Fo-Real, Childress has been a healthy scratch the last few games, IMO they are not playing him for a reason, I think he may be part of some trade brewing and do not want to risk him re-injuring the finger. Otherwise it would make no sense that with his skills he is not getting minutes....

I agree. I think we're a decent PnR PF away from making the system work again so we're really only a trade away from turning this sub .500 ball club into a low seed playoff team. From what I've read, all the off-season signings were done by Sarver so I'm still optimistic about our FO as they did fix Sarver's mistake and right the ship financially.

We may not have great assets to get us a young star but financially we're looking alright long-term and our only mistakes left have been Warrick, but he isn't a cap killer.

As I said in my opening post...Dudley is our MVP this year and in my opinion, untouchable. HOWEVER...he does not block out on EVERY possession. Only Gortat has shown this thus far.

If only all 5 players on the court did this...This team would be above 500 right now.

I mentioned him because he's the guy I notice always getting position on his man - the exceptions would be when he just goes straight for the ball. Let's not argue about it though - your point is spot on.

(I'd also say Frye has come a long way in his fundamentals)
